Hi all, im quite new to this forum but have been reading posts on here for some time now.

After watching todays game i couldn't help but admire Phil Jones's performance in midfield. He seemed to give us something that has been missing since Roy Keane left, Strength, Energy and leadership in midfield.

It just left me wondering; would he give more to the team in midfield or in defence?

    What do you guys think?

Rooney in midfield, Jones in midfield....

De Gea is pretty handy at not letting the ball past him, lets put him in midfield as well.

    The new 0-11-0 formation.

Jones is a defender and that is where he should be played. Future defence is - Rafael Smalling Jones Fabio.

He can do both, but CB 1st choice for me.

Yeah but do you want a jack of all or a master of one

Players that move around can do a good job but do not get the benefit of playing the same position consistently. Jones is a CB that can play midfield, he's not a CB\DM. Long term he wouldn't do well in the DM slot compared to his suited position of CB

Rio was your other CB who could play football, Jones' arrival is perfect timing

He reminds me of a cross between Lenny from 'of mice and men' and a member of N-Sync.

I think he should be played in the CB position because that is his best position.

Although I agree, and we should only play him at one position, he's just so fun to watch in the midfield. He brings a lithos energy and passion to a midfield that's been dull for years now.

But what's best for Unites and Phil Jones is that he plays CB.

I don't think it is doing him any harm to gain experience in midfield as he is so young but like others I believe he will end up as a centre back. What a bargain though, buy of the season?

By the looks of some of our finishing of late, apart from maybe yesterday I would stick the future captain up front

Its a great experience for him to learn how to operate in the centre of midfield as it will improve his first touch no end, once he is comfortable in there playing as the ball playing CB will be a doddle for him.

Apart from that CM is where we need him most at present.
