A man has been arrested on suspicion of spying and preparing a terrorist attack against a British military base in Cyprus. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/...py-plot-uk-military-base-cyprus-b1234183.html The suspect, who is reportedly from Azerbaijan, is believed to have ties to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. He is thought to have been conducting surveillance on the RAF base in Akrotiri — the UK’s largest military installation outside Britain — which plays a key role in supporting ongoing operations in the Middle East.
A movement of B-2s has been speculated to be imminent for several days as the U.S. government weighs its options in terms of the Israel-Iran conflict, and whether U.S. forces should directly join with Israeli airstrikes. The U.S. response began with a mass deployment of tankers to Europe, followed by F-22 Raptors which routed via the UK, but so far it has not included kinetic actions. Among the B-2’s unique capabilities is the ability to carry the huge GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bunker buster bomb, which is thought to be the only conventional weapon able to hit the most hardened of Iran’s nuclear facilities. please log in to view this image Whether the deployment to Guam is simply a stepping stone for a further deployment to Diego Garcia is yet to be seen. Theoretically, strikes could be launched directly from Guam, although as the aircraft would need to fly over other countries en route to Iran there is a greater possibility that operational security (OPSEC) could be compromised. From Diego Garcia, in comparison, a flight to Iran would in essence be a straight run over the ocean. https://theaviationist.com/2025/06/21/b-2-guam-amid-iran-conflict/
I hadn't ever realised the tests for the bouncing bombs were carried out at Reculver (Manston) Kent...
Speaking of Reculver, it's a place many people miss and don't realise is there, as it's a bit off the beaten track...sort of thing @Gessa would love walking... https://www.mirygiramondo.com/en/the-walk-from-whitstable-oysters-to-reculver-towers/ please log in to view this image
Very true, way too easy for him, although there is a pub actually on the beach in Whitstable, so that might be tempting... please log in to view this image
I haven't looked at the table, I know the Germans beat us, does this win mean we will progress further in the competition?
