Maybe it's Sergej wanting to pick his own side?

If he values his profession, he must struggle to look in the mirror most days.

I know it’s easier said than done but we need to shift the players we don’t want permanently. If teams only want Giles and Ömür on loan, insist on an obligation-to-buy or no deal. There’s no point subsidising the salaries of players who are some of our most expensive in terms of transfer fees and salaries if they’re not contributing to the team.

If we are to shift Giles on loan we will inevitably still be paying a big chunk of his wages. Unless we find a club willing to sign him, and he still retains some basic professional desire to play for the club that pays him (not guaranteed), my view is that we should keep him and see how he goes in pre-season. Last season he was evidently distracted by the temptations of Middlesbrough - he won’t have that this season.

Sending Giles out again creates another problem we would then need two left backs given we struggled to sign just one in the last window it’s not ideal

I've liked that, even though there's no real evidence he was distracted, as I've posted before he may just not be very good and basked in one decent season. :emoticon-0138-think

I’ve noticed a lot of the players we’ve been linked with or have already signed are big fookers.

Laalaoui is 6’3”, Ajayi is 6’4”, McBurnie is 6’2”, Hoxha is 6’1”, Emreli is 6’2” and Radeljić is 6’7”. It seems we’re targeting height and physicality this summer in all areas of the pitch. Previously under Acun, we’ve signed a lot of diminutive, technical players, especially in midfield. Mehlem, Ömür, Puerta etc. are all on the shorter side and pretty lightweight.

There seems to be a trend in English football of prioritising height, strength and athleticism again, even amongst the elite teams. Man City and Arsenal have both been recruiting big, strong lads recently.

First thing I see this morning when routinely checking the headlines?

O Brien signs, something about McBurnie. Oh great that's a nice surprise.

Read a bit further and it's just Baz's ideal window ffs. **** off. Click bait ****e.

The ‘ideal window’ articles do my head in. There’s loads of them for every club.

‘5 signings Stoke must make this summer. Number 3 would be perfect for Robins.’

How’s that any different from the stuff us fans post on forums or social media? <laugh>

It’s a shame that journalism has gone down this path. Instead of having lots of talented writers, we’ve now got loads of kids who know how to get ‘the clicks’ - which helps generate their advertising revenue but leaves the reader feeling cheated.

Misleading headlines, burying the ‘news’ in the last sentence, making sites almost impossible to navigate (which leads to accidental clicks in adverts) are just a few of the tricks they employ.

No doubt Baz wants to be a serious writer, but he is hampered by his employer probably reminding him on a daily basis ‘his clicks are down’. Hence the non articles he throws out there, ever more regularly.

To the point he tried to make it in LA..But it proved too much for the man (Too much for the man, he couldn't make it. So he's leavin' the life. He said he's goin' back to find (Goin' back to find). Ooh, ooh, ooh, what's left of his world! Ends up in HU3!! Could be his nirvana, hopefully. More likely to be another Ryan Woods.
