Nobody other than @Blond Bombshell has actually complained that there are two threads so this has to have been the most pointless argument ever. haway the transfers and contracts so people have stuff to talk about
Baffling isn't it, who'd think such a harmless thread would trigger people so much ... ... it's calmer on the WW3 thread
My complaint was there was pages of Sunderland transfer speculation on the Transfers thread when people had been asked to post on here. There's no stopping some posting wherever they like. I've given up and will read both... I've missed about 10 pages on the transfer thread... if I get back to the Airport and see Sterling is a Mackem t's I'll explode
The first comment is suggesting he could leave for Nottingham Forest or Brighton for between 10 and 12m €.
I would be staggered if that happens tbh. I like the lad, but he is nowhere near the level those two teams demand.
On the face of it a successful transfer, did contribute and we got a loan fee plus a decent transfer fee but his top potential is really high. I hope we have a good sell on clause. I liked him as a player and whilst I recognise he looked a bit lackadaisical sometimes I think that was overstated. I’d argue his performance against Southampton was one of the best individual midfield performances since we were relegated from the premier league. Of course consistent application hasn’t always been there but nonetheless I think the potential remains for us to ultimately look on this sale as less impressive than it might appear.
Me too but he is a bit of an enigma. If you had one match on which to appraise him, and it was a game where he's unplayable, you'd think you'd struck gold ... ... in other games you'd leave at half time and get off home. He has the talent but not always the application, more difficult to weigh up than the other way round.
Getting the full loan clause amount for Ekwah plus hopefully some sort of sell on is incredible business for us. Obviously quite a bit goes to West Ham but the rest is pure profit
This isn't the Sunderland we're used to whereby we buy players who are too old and jaded, sell them for a loss and replace them with more of the same. It's funny to think that we barely raise an eyebrow, these days, if we sell a fringe player for £5/6m ... ... whatever happens this season the future looks bright.
Still think there is a very good player there somewhere, the lad has the potential to go on and have a very good career.
must fancy their chances of moving him on for some kind of profit then disappointed in a way as he’s got the talent but it’s the right thing to do as his will/motivation seems to be lacking.
Definitely not. I like him but his lack of urgency, possibly mental more than physical, leaves him unsuited to the English game at Championship or Premier League level.
