What a pointless league. Liverpool spending 116m in a player and a million a month wages yet we re limited to a total spend of 50 or 60 m on an entire squad. Utterly pointless

Fabulous post. I read through all the ‘it’s wonderful’ drivel, thinking ‘where’s Eire when you need him?’…….. and there you were

Either do away with financial fair play or put in a cap to make it a more even playing field.

Or even distribute the wealth down the pyramid to level up smaller clubs.

The thing is, a player is only worth what a club is willing to spend. Man City came massively unstuck last season despite their huge squad value. The prices are also rising scandalously high and the fair play loss percentage hasn’t risen inline with player values

World Club Championship - £29 million to take part (Top European) £23.2 million for the semi final or £30 million to win it. Group stages £1.5 million for the win, £800k a draw. Man City could win our entire transfer budget before the season starts

Which is making a complete mockery of the game. All about finances and nothing to do with fans anymore. Am I looking forward to the coming season. Not really and I’ve seen many more and listened to podcasts saying similar. Looking at fixture list and picking out months where we’ll hopefully get some points and others where we’re unlikely to get many. Professional sport is broken because of the huge sums of money involved. Golf and football are the prime examples

Exactly this and new owners at a club should start with a clean slate and not have spending impaired by what previous owners did two or three years ago

Your last point means man city or liverpool would start with a clean slate too.

They are already given a clean slate every season anyway. Why should we still be penalised for ortas f ups
