Sean is actaully being quite kind towards the offical..maybe becasue we've had 3 pens of our own in recent times. Just think what a Mackay would have said/done! Ref would be in a dark corner trying to hide I think.
Then what was the extra minute for then? there were no subs after the 93, there were no injuries and no stoppages.
No idea. Was there sustained attacking play during? It's harsh to whistle when one team's in the opposition's final third.
No, cos the ball leading to you pen was actually played from your own half, and thats where it had been for a min.
I have no idea. Maybe he just thought it would be a better experience for the fans. But its done now. Lets just hope he stays away!!!
Might be harsh but it shouldn't matter where the ball is time is time and anything after should be outwith the game and not count. Either the rules should be changed and it becomes like rugby and ball needs to go dead to kill the game or refs learn to read their watches (better solution US hockey style buzzer to signal "the end, this is the end my only friend the end" quoting jim morrison a long time ago....
the ref and the lino on the left were both inadequate, to say the least. Dodgy decisions and inconsistancies..and the lino was awful. The crowd knew it...the teams knew it...and lucky for Leeds, most of the decisions went their way. I just feel desperately sorry for MS tonight...he didn't deserve the abuse he's been getting. Shame on Watford fans. Disgusting.
I agree with Aberdeen, it should go the way of rugby. The sport has its knockers, but if you take scrums out of the equation, the systems they have for refereeing are very good and generally don't interfere with the flow of the game.
The trouble is Loach wasted so much time during the 90 minutes I am surprised we still are not playing As for that debacle in the second half down when we tried to hold on and waste time in the corner We were all over them and shot ourselves in the foot with time wasting IMO Loach is not really improving, his flapping at crosses not a commanding performance even though he had little to do! Hodson I'm afraid simply is not good enough, he cannot head the ball, lacks height and as for his clearances, I won't get started on that I am sorry to say that Marvin had a very poor game, was not at the races and had shooting opportunities which he wasted by trying to beat someone again Very soft penalty, sometimes you have to blast rather than place especially late on and that would have killed the game IMO and the added tiime came from how long it took to take our penalty! I'm afraid that Mapps will be off to pastures new in the transfer window, simply outstanding performance great pairing with Nosworthy they read each others game so well
Maybe SD knows that if he said anything derogatory about the ref, as a rookie manager at a small Championship club, he'd get a disproportionate punishment from the FA. (A lot of long words for a Sunday - guess who didn't have any alcohol last night )
Did you go? I am assuming you did from your detailed analysis - but I really don't think you were at the same game as me. Hodso on not good enough? He's what, 20? Have you seen the difference in results, esp. defensively, since he replaced Lloyd? He is either going to become a backbone of the team or go for a useful fee. And Sordell, apart from the pen and some wasteful shooting, had one of his best games this year. Ran a lot more than usual, chased down, set up Kightly for the goal, and in case you hadn't noticed, won the penalty. There were a couple of 'Loach' moments, but he is a lot more decisive in coming for the ball. I think you are letting a very understandable disappointment colour your views. On that performance (and the last few), whilst we are never going to be pretty, we will be effective and very hard to beat. This is a season of transition; we will survive to become a force next year.
Maybe we should club together and pay for a message on the big screen 'George Kedgeley, Rob Griffiths, Amy Dunton-Payne, Bob Taylor, William de Honri* : please go away, we don't need 'fans' like you'. * A selection of the sad specimens giving Sords abuse on twitter
I was there and I have always thought that Hodson is not big/tall enough and the last two games I have been to BC and LU I think LH has been caught out with his jumping or should I say lack of ability to jump. He mistimes his efforts and he cannot head the ball again IMO. I don't think MS had his best game for us where as TD ran himself into the ground, it was like having DG back 'defending from the front attitude' brilliant
I've seen a lot worse referees and blaming him for dropping two points we deserved masks other issues. Sordell was going down whether the defender made contact or not so our own penalty was maybe a bit fortunate. We should have taken the goal-scoring chances when we had them. Keeping calm in injury time is vital...don't risk a foul in the box when the player is facing away from the goal. However much injury time is played you don't relax until the final whistle has gone.
Personally I think the ref was OK and he tried to keep the game flowing and not keeping blowing up for little niggles - of course we would say that the dirty's got more of a rub of the green than we did, but I did not thunk it was the ref that cost us 2 points. It was our own inability to close out a game against very poor opposition - Sordell in particular wasted many good chances and if he focussed on smashing the penalty home instead of the dummy's and faints in the run-up, we would have had 3 points. As for the extra minutes in overtime, well I think refs now know about Loach's continued time wasting and add on extra to the MINIMUM amount decided by the 4th official. Sorry, but we created enough chances to have had that game buried but did not take them...
Agree with w-w. We've only got ourselves to blame for not winning. Leeds penalty wouldn't of mattered had Sordell took his chances, especially the shot over the bar with just the keeper to beat, (he also did exactly the same, in fact an identical miss, at Ipswich) and the appalling penalty kick. All very frustrating. On another note. With all the games loach has played for watford, how many panalties has he actually saved? be interesting to know. I know the answer is a big fat Zero, just be interesting to know how many penalties he's had to face! ans on a postcard!
As 90% of penaltys on target are scored your implied critism of loach is rubbish! Also im not shore how you put a postcode on the internet- so i guess your clueless about technology as well- just to save you an exspensive mistake DONT shove a postcode in your diskdrive.
