Our home atmosphere last season was,in my opinion,at times, pitiful. Given that that we are now more or less a sell out,we need to build on the Play-off experiences v Coventry and Sheff U.to cement our "'til the end" mentality. As skilful and confident as most of our opponents this year will be,we have the opportunity to disturb their rhythm with our noise. Bear in mind, most of the opposition players won't have played here before. I've long thought that our Wise Men Say anthem before KO should be longer....extended to its' verses and the chorus. It's a fantastic rallying cry, which has seemed to finish too quickly for me . It was noticeable at Wembley how much we were into it when it carried on beyond the first verse. Other teams do it....."You'll never walk alone" at Anfield goes on for ages....and there's no doubting the effect it has......and I'm pretty sure a longer singing session for us would generate more awareness in the minds of our opponents that they are in a seriously partisan place, where victory is not going to be easy.
This has been discussed on numerous occasions, but the atmosphere will not improve to anywhere near what is used to be until the 'away' fans are moved 'downstairs' so that we can be 'side by side' with them (so we can actually see them next to us instead of 'hidden away' so that we can't have banter with them). I've mentioned the idiocy of siting them where they go now lots of times, and until someone at the club 'sees sense' we've got absolutely no chance of bringing back anything like 'The Roker Roar'
Top post marra, im sure a lot on here agree. Why don't we badger becs to keep it raised at the fans forums. Not wanting to derail the thread, but anyone leaving on 82/83 minutes next season needs to man up. 'Til the end.
You have the south stand (roker end) that try and make noise but its not even unison with the south west or south east corners when chanting and its the opposite end to away fans no chance to even remotely bounce off eachother - in turn we (south) say the away fans are quiet and the away fans say the same about us
I think the away fans have got to go in a corner. Question to all: Which one and are there any that are a definite no, in your opinion?
They should be in the SEC imo. A little segregation either side in the East and South stands. Atmosphere would be so much better.
I think one of the reasons the away end was moved was because it looked awful on the telly when the away section was no where near a sell out (obviously not in Prem). Segregation either side it looked terrible. Also the Mags do the same as us obviously and apparently their atmosphere is one of the best in the country.
Atmosphere often depends on the action in the pitch. Watching PL games, there is often a dull atmosphere, it's the way now. I went to Liverpool v Forest last year with a friend. Forest won 1-0 in the way they won a lot of games. Apart from the Forest fans, (who were noisy all game, well before their winner) it was as flat as a pancake for most of the afternoon.
Maybe an unpopular view, but I cringe when Wise Men Say is played. It's trying to manufacture an atmosphere when it actually gets in the way sometimes. Run out music fair enough, but after that leave it to the fans.
