Well, when you've finished quote-mining perhaps you can look at the context.
I'm talking about the escalating costs involved in following new and ever-expanding competitions. At no point did I suggest that we should abandon all foreign travel and fall back on domestic games only.
I can take it then that if the tax-man wrote to you and said "you're already paying 20% so you won't mind paying twice as much will you?" you'd be in agreement?

If you have a successful team it can come with a cost.
It's up to you if you pay it or not.

    Sorry missed this
    Wasn’t being rude
Yes I agree that people’s disdain for this version is possibly that but there was disdain before it
Saint is explaining his take on it

this was my original point that in this country we have always devalued certain competitions

I am not trying to devalue ours - I would have representation in all if I could - the removal was more a response to the very real possibility of tiring the players out

I think this is one that we should perhaps show a bit more respect to but it is just my opinion on it.

I agree with the concept of removing teams from the league cup who are in Euro competitions - to allow for different winners but it’s still doesn’t stop us essentially having two cup comps that are offering the same thing

why do we need two ?

I would still like the CWC to be valued higher lol

Whilst that is a salient point - that point again covers a lot of football

Most of your points have done that - I am not sure how you distinguish between the different competitions

but can’t afford to watch live is always relative to someone with no money - but there are TVs and radios

as I said earlier I would love to watch us play the best from Brazil - Argentina way more than I would see us play Newport County and Darlington

not that I would be refusing to watch us in those games btw

If what I wanted was to ever come to fruition as a fan I would be tempted to save to go and watch a game over in Brazil for a CWC semi final/final and use it as a holiday rather than saving to go and watch us play Southampton. That’s a game which has the potential to happen fairly often.

A Boca or Fluminese is just something different

A CWC is not something we would be involved in year after year - if it did become the norm - every season - I would probably be rethinking my standpoint <laugh><laugh>

As I said totally respect your viewpoint on it mine is just different - defo an agree to disagree

have found it all interesting during close season
    Thankyou <cheers>

The league cup is a useful money spinner for the EFL teams who get good (in a financial sense) draws

CWC is a good potential money spinner for us
And if they split the money right they could give money to the league and grassroots too
    If they wanted too
Keep a B squad in the comp and whoever you play gets the money the gate would have given them
    Easy

you could even drop the players from the CWC squads from international duty on two of the friendly fixture dates (four weeks right there ) put them to a cup or even instead of nations league
At least if they were going to CWC the are repping the group that pays them well

There is actually loads you could do tbph

They probably won’t and tbh I am not fussed about the intricacies you can level exactly the same at CL and PL
Nothing is or will be perfect

    This is a fair point.

The rules allow for a squad of 25 players including 8 HGs but as many u21s as you want.

To play the kind of high intensity football that Klopp or Ange wanted requires a lot of rotation to manage multiple competitions, and a lot more game management than even we were able to get away with under Slot's more measured style of management last season.

This is where I place a lot of criticism on the media, because teams even when winning get criticised by pundits for playing boring football, and they won't take any accountability for this because they work in the very system that demands more and more football, but to successfully manage being able to play that much football requires more boring,, game management type football at times when teams can get away with it.

Only reason fifa are dishing out big money to clubs is so they take it seriously and play first team. If they put money to grassroots and not the clubs involved, would be no incentive to play strong team at end of season .

The rules should now be updated to prevent clubs stockpiling.

No registrations over x players over 21
No registrations over y players u21
Minimum of z players club trained in u21 number.

Fees for players between inter owned clubs require ratification by uefa panel and cannot be used to offset ffp prior to ratification.

Unfortunately it's particularly beneficial for Chelsea who need the PSR freedom

Im sure they have some more family Jewell’s stored round the back they can sell to themselves. They’ll prob rehire drogba then sell him to their parent company for £40m or something stupid.

I don't think this is true at all. Going back years and years, the excitement around the cups was immense. It's changed for some people, more recently, for various reasons one of which is the extra fixtures. The extra fixtures which come about because of the ever expanding football calendar. And again, some regarding the competitions that bring in most money as more worthwhile. Social media has a lot to answer for as well with many going with the flow and having their opinions formed for them. Not you - I hasten to add. Your views are quite authentic.

Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged by the Football Association (FA) for doping offences and faces a lengthy ban.

Mudryk was suspended by the FA after failing a doping test last December.

He tested positive for the prohibited substance meldonium which was administered abroad when the Ukrainian winger was not on Chelsea duty.

Maximum ban is 4 years. Probably get 12 month ban which I think is what Pogba got

Clearly not a performance enhancing one though <laugh>

Reckon Chelsea management slipped something in his drink, so they could terminate his contract without a pay off :bandit:

According to Wiki " Athletes have used meldonium to enhance recovery and (controversially) performance, though these claims lack robust scientific support" so has some advantage and is on the banned list.

Tchumeani putting in a shift there at right back tonight. And trying to play his own position as well. No wonder Real are supposedly interested in Konate. :emoticon-0138-think
