one can hope.... his tenure has ran its course for me. Only real asset remaining at the club which huge potential is hughes, probs sell him for peanuts like we did greaves.
It's been a poor signing, that's true. But in context; Pandur in pre-season looked shaky at best - Racioppi was signed on the 8th of August possibly in response to that. Rusworth was a late opportunity signing on 30th August and in isolation (and in an alternative universe) was a snap your hands off signing. What made both decisions look questionable was Pandur's form and consistency all season - you wouldn't necessarily predict that at the beginning of the season. Brighton obviously got the hump that their player wasn't getting game time (fair enough) and Racioppi never got the opportunity to amend for that unbelievable howler in his only game for us. The positive about the whole situation is that they're both gone or going and Pandur is still here.
id say hodge has probably already had an effect we signed our 2nd keeper very early on and got tlt out on loan to be a regular league one starter thats absolutely fantastic as far as im concerned the keepers are fully sorted already and im very pleased for tlt, he can join doncasters full pre season we are not ****ing about this summer on the evidence so far
I agree with this, but would also add (although some people will hate me saying it) that even Pandur himself was also a pander signing by Acun in response to the fan criticism of Allsop.
It wasn't a silly signing until we brought in Rushworth for me, Pandur wasn't guaranteed no 1 and having 2 to fight it out made sense. 3 was just an utter nonsense.
It’ll be interesting to see how Jakirovic wants his keepers to play, compared to the last couple of Head Coaches. I suspect he’ll probably be more like Selles in terms of mixing it up but don’t have any evidence for that perspective.
Not without reason though, cos Allsop was poor. I watched the Cardiff away match with Cardiff commentary, and the commentators even said he was weak at his near post, and that they were hoping that they would be targeting that. I know people don't like xG, but we conceded 60 goals that season, and the Post Shot xG was 44.7, so every 4th goal we conceded was a gift. That is comfortably the worst goalkeeping in the league when it comes to actually stopping goals.
Allsop's long gone and certain posters go mental when I talk about him so it's not worth getting into again, but I think those stats were overly simplistic, others showed a more balanced picture, and most importantly, the football people at the club rated him and he only left when the owner got rid of those football people and then him.
Potentially, I do think however if we’d have signed say Rushworth instead in Jan on loan he’d have replaced Allsop, so I do think Rosenior probably wanted someone more reliable just proved at the time he didn’t feel Pandur was
Belloumi? Matazo? Pandur? Kamara? Potentially Zambrano? lot of potential, let’s see where we are after summer with full attention back on City with a proper recruitment team in place. Nowhere near this dramatic we are linked with and chasing solid good acquisitions at this level.
Allsop is one of the worst keepers I’ve ever seen, no where near good enough and his feet wasn’t enough to justify the absolute poppadom wrists he had between the sticks. Became a personal battle it seems that one and cost us.
please log in to view this image Second best Post Shot xG in the division behind Leeds but 10th in goals actually conceded with a reminder that we missed out on the play-offs by 3 points. His distribution was decent but i prefer my goalkeeper to keep the goals out.
im so ****ing bored of the allsopp discussion we've done it literally dozens of times ffs its been 14 months since he played for us
shut the **** up what a stupid post its a forum, i can say a topic is boring if i want how would i even know what the discussion is unless i read it
