Bartosz mistake today has been all anyone has been talking about, no doubt there will be calls for him to be sold/let go, but i think he has potential. In the barca vs madrid game tonight, Valdes, one of the best keepers in the world, made a horrific mistake. these mistakes happen we are only humans. The question is how will he react. It was his first league start for two year. Yes, many of you will say he has played in cup games but as we know they are just not the same. This bloke has played in the premiership for us. people slatting him is not going to improve his confidence which is what he needs. I have always liked him a player. Even rickie after the game said that he made mistakes and but his don't impact as much. you can just blame bart you have to blame the team as a whole.
Would never slate a player while i'm at the game. Bart looked far to nervous today hopefully Adkins will sort him out.
To be honest you are right he shouldn't be ripped apart because of that one mistake but what i think most are worried about is the fact that he looked a nervous wreck from the kickoff.I agree we just can't disown him because of one game but i must say it doesn't feel me with alot of confidence if Davis remains out.
we don't know how long before kick off bart knew he was playing. he was always going to be nervous in a first league start for 2 years Anyway it wasn't bart's fault we drew. Lallana had long sleeves on!
But agree with your general sentiment. He's shown loyalty and patience to the club as our longest-serving player and deserves to be shown the same in return
sorry well i must have got confused but he deffo played a good 15 games int he championship for us. didn't he? yeah he must be one of the most loyal players EVER. near enough 6 years with about 25 apps
Tbh the fact that their player managed to wonder through 4 or so of our players inthe first place is bad enough. he wasn't at the races today but if he plays against that lot he will either have another mare or have a Worldy and I'm willing to bet petty cash that if he does play then he will play well.
He was understandably nervous having not had a true run in the side for a couple of years. He's done well when called upon before but today he just didn't get that good collection save early on and never got his confidence back. It was horrible to watch and I felt desperately sorry for him, especially as i know he can do far better.
It's interesting you noticed Lallana was the only Saints player with long sleeves on. I noticed it as well. Think Blackpool had 3or 4
I think we should stick by him. For those who read this who are against him, after his display, honestly I do. Please don't let that disappointment cloud your judgement. Bart, as we know is normally a brilliant shot stopper, a brilliant penalty saver [remember those play-off games], and needs to be cut some slack. Let's give him that time.
Lets remember Kelvin has made errors in the past but it does not alter the fact that he is quality it really depends now on Barts mental strength and if he can quickly put the memory of this game behind him but the real issue is if the back four feel comfortable with him after yesterday as we really dont want indecision and a lack of cohesion setting in this area of the team.I think the way Davis always bounces back from errors shows the confidence in himself which comes with experience . Despite the criticism of his distribution i am always confident when he plays the times he has saved us are to numerous to mention
I remember Bart had one very good run in the team a couple of years ago, which is why people rate him. However, he wasn't so good the next time he got a chance. Confidence is everything in a goalkeeper..the game he had yesterday won't have done him any favours. Feel sorry for the lad, but wouldn't be surprised if we get in an experienced keeper in January..after all we don't have a third keeper. Don't know if any youngster can step up....
