I was never a big fan of Longman but not a bad squad player. I would have kept him.

It’s funny reading this thread, not all of it, just skipping, but the majority of players we're getting rid of or have got rid off, there always seems to be at least 1 comment of how they should be kept/ they could do a job.
I’m not saying anyone’s wrong with any of those comments, but is it just because of, loyalty to a player, nostalgia or because we know what we’ve got?
If we’d kept all these players, we’d have hundreds!

I would have kept Sinik tbh, he showed he was a good player in his few appearances and I think he still could have done a job for us.

its a strange life being a goalie. Not sure how many we still have on the staff but about a year ago, I could name about 7. Imagine being 7th choice, you know you are never gonna get a game unless there is a plague epidemic. We still managed to have about 4 injured at one point, despite none if them playing.

Maybe the new manager wants a look at Racioppi or already knows of him...

But he could have done a job after he came back from his first injury.

Our goalkeeping situation last season was weird from start to finish. Sold our first and second choices in the summer and brought in two new ones, whilst sort of accidentally promoting Pandur from third to first choice. Racioppi we seemed to want rid of from the moment we signed him, though it was never clear where he sat in the hierarchy. Then TLT and Cartwright ended up being the only backups for the second half of the season because we lost both of the two new ones we signed to replace the two we lost in the summer, and didn't subsequently replace those lost replacements.

Phillips probably a modest wages signing, who hopefully won't be needed as Pandur will stay fit thus makes sense to attribute wages to more pressing areas.

Also, didn't realise McBurnie is from Leeds. According to his Wiki, he played with Coyle in the Leeds youth setup. Two things that could work in our favour.

Hull City are delighted to announce the signing of experienced goalkeeper Dillon Phillips on a two-year contract, with a club option of an additional year.

The 30-year-old will officially join the Tigers on 1 July following his departure from Rotherham United, where he featured 39 times across two seasons.

Making more than 200 appearances for seven different clubs – including 81 in the Championship – Phillips played over a century of matches for Charlton Athletic after progressing through their youth system.

The 6’2” shot-stopper helped the Addicks secure promotion from League One via the play-offs in 2018/19 and received their Player of the Year award the following campaign, his last at The Valley.

He made 36 appearances during three years with Cardiff City from 2020 to 2023, spending the final season on loan in Belgium with KV Oostende.

The Hornchurch-born custodian spent his early career in non-league, enjoying loan spells with Whitehawk, Bishop’s Stortford and Cheltenham Town, where he lifted the 2015/16 National League title.

    Welcome to Hull City, Dillon!

Nah, Coyle is rubbish and fights all the time. Pointless captain.

It's fun to see a signing come totally out of nowhere. That almost never happens nowadays.

I remember Phillips' name from a big howler he made in a playoff final a few years ago. Think his Charlton team came back to win the game though.

Never heard of Phillips but it seems like we’re going the route of getting experienced domestic players in to fill the bulk of the squad. If we can get Ajayi, and hopefully McBurnie and O’Brien in then it leaves us in a better position for any punts from abroad knowing we have experienced players who know the league.

Seems a bit more sensible and a more “obvious” 1 & 2 as opposed to Pandur & Racioppi. Plus it allows TLT a full season of first team football at Donny hopefully.
