Agreed, it is widely known that the biggest travesty in club football in Europe was when we got screwed over in the 1975 European Cup Final. Probably still the only occassion that a ref has been banned worldwide of covering any such future event
****ing Idiot, you know nothing about history....What about when we won the league in 91/92. Clough, he was with us for 40 days, in the 90's we got to the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE semi finals, and were cheated out of a place in the final by the murdering turkish scum....
Well played watford, very happy with a point myself.Good luck with your season, hope we mug you for 3pts in march though..good night.
Like i say THATS THE PAST!!! You go on about it as if it means something. Judging by today it means **** all!!!
I am calm actually. I can sit here knowing that we out played a team with more money, bigger named players and a bigger stadium. Its quite a nice feeling to keep proving people wrong. All you can say is you got a lucky point against a small team who were tipped for relegation. Nothing to be proud of. Why dont you just jog on.
If your boys raised their game more often against the big boys you may not be in a relegation battle.
This kind of **** never happened until Leeds showed up. Of course....it's not everyone but it's usually the big teams that have the rotten apples......I guess Leeds are pretending to be one.
We have done it a few times lately. We beat Posh, Brighton, Pompey. We deserved to beat you and we deserved a point at Boro'. Our position in the league is the result of some tough games and a completely new look team taking time to gel. If we had had the team we had last year we could be in the running for an auto promotion spot. But we aren't and thats life. We will keep building and playing as we are and maybe we will finish i the top 10. We are not a big team with big bucks to spend so i think most would be happy with a small improvement year on year. Also we are hardly in the relegation battle. We are 5 points clear and could/should have been 8 after today.
Not forgetting the 1973 cup winner's cup final. We're the only club to have actually been robbed of 2 European competitions by referees. I'd say that counts as unfair.
We've hardly been splashing the cash ourselves, it's not really an excuse. You spent more than 3 times the money we did in the summer.
we have more money,fu-k you must be skint.Nosworthy and Snodgrass are the 2 biggest named players,.And you think a point at Watfords crap.Great fan you are.
And the 1973 FA Cup because jim Montgomery thought he was Gordon Banks and had the audacity to play like a man possessed
We are, and its well publicised. Watford only just escaped administration last year!! You say that Snodgrass is your biggest player, but you have Mccormack, Kisnorbo, Forssell, Becchio. Not unknown players like ours. If you look at the wages you pay your players compared to the wages we pay, then compare the stadiums, then yes you should be beating us. We are not a big club, but we have shown that we can hold our own this season.
It would be interesting to compare wages, because we hardly spend big in that department either. I think we're probably in the lucky situation where our club's reputation gets us players we wouldn't normally get if we were, say, Reading and offering the same wages. But then again Snodgrass and Becchio were both unknowns when we signed them, Snoddy was at Livingston and Luc was playing in the Spanish 3rd division. None of our very best players in the last few years, with the possible exceptions of McCormack and Kissa, were known before they made themselves known with us.
No but judging by the league table we should be beating relegation fodder like you, small sides always like to berate clubs that celebrate their proud history.
