Off Topic New Manager... Sergej Jakirović appointed

Thought he'd been sacked.

 

I'm probably wrong but I think he's guessing on the fourth coach who knows the English game that was mentioned when naming the new Managers back staff.

 

We haven't had one of those since Burstow scored against Swansea

Baz. He used to mispronounce Xavier Simons name and Simons actually pulled him up on it once. Baz then proceeded to sarcastically enunciate his name whenever talking about him. He’s a bellend.

 

Baz said on the 1904 Club podcast that Belözoğlu was the frontrunner and Acun’s favourite for the job. Jakirović was just another name on the shortlist but after the criticism of Belözoğlu, Acun became fixated on Jakirović. Baz also said Acun is a ‘feelings guy’ and makes a lot of executive decisions with little input from those below him and without research or due diligence. He also hinted that at disorder behind the scenes. Probably the most critical podcast episode about Acun’s time at City by Cooper. Wasn’t very positive or optimistic at all.

Laughable, isn't it. So at least two of the names on the shortlist were plucked off the top of the owners head. The lack of due diligence also explains Walter's disastrous time in charge. Do you know what he meant by disorder behind the scenes, players, staff or?

 

Baz just said things aren’t particularly ‘rosy’ behind the scenes, that Acun is a ‘feelings guy’ who will make decisions based on his gut and that Acun doesn’t really listen to those around him (he specifically mentioned Kesler). I assume this is in reference to the real reasons Kesler left.

 

The disorder thing wasn't specifically referencing anything. He posed the question that the new manager appointment may suggest Acun is still just doing what he wants, irrespective of employing people in expert roles and is yet another example of the club not functioning in a normal way.

 

I have always liked Acun, still do in many ways, and I have often been of the mind that some people were overly critical of the club under his ownership, particularly two summers ago. But I think over the last 18 months or so there have been a lot of signs of Acun being too personally and emotionally involved in key decisions to the detriment of the club. I'm surprised more people aren't scrutinising this side of things. There still seems to be a lot of resistance to him being criticised for this stuff which I find a bit strange.

I'm only a few minutes into the Baz podcast but his comments on the timescales of the appointment seem spot on to me. Talk of formally announcing the new manager's appointment the week after next seems crazy, and it's the exact same thing playing out as last summer.
