I don't believe that they performed as badly as us, we were abysmal all season.
We desperately need a couple of leaders on the pitch.

I could see Brum doing an Ipswich with the momentum and money they'll have.

Similar to when we came down last time. Hopefully the squad we have come first game is talented enough to win a couple of games early on and we can build some momentum. Like how we beat Sheff Weds and Plymouth early on in our last Champ season. We scored late in both games which would’ve helped confidence hugely.

That was before a few players ****ed off though and what we were left with lost 4 in a row. I don't think it'll be a quick fix, I hope i'm wrong though and Still is a miracle worker and gets the team performing well quickly.
I think we'll be more of a Sheff Utd than a Burnley but look at Luton (and Derby in 2009), who knows right now how it might turn out.
I think that Saints fans might need to temper their expectations as I don't think it'll be easy at all next season.

Tella played both I think, not sure about anyone else. Think JWP played the first game as well.

Momentum is a big thing in football but so is budget and we should have a much deeper and better squad than the majority of the league. 2009 may as well be a different sport to now with the advantages relegated teams have with budgets and players.

It really would be the biggest **** up the club have managed to not be top 6 next season, it would be worse than getting 12 points this. Would likely be down to gambling on Still as well if it were to happen

Like I say, I think we'll be play-offs again but it could easily go tits up if we get recruitment wrong. I'll be contented enough to miss out next season and hopefully build something for the next season.

Looks like Frank is of to Spurs, and Brentford ready to approach Ipswich for McKenna.

I would be inclined to see how we fair in the transfer window before making a prediction. I am optimistic but feel we will lose more of the valuable players some had hoped we would retain. Expect to lose a lot of our better prem players as well as lose those who we loaned to championship last season and who did well.

If that happens we'll have a big advantage over Leicester and Ipswich having our manager sorted already.

It would be good wouldn’t it. Plus still doubts over Wilder’s future at Sheffield Utd.
Makes Spors decision to get a really promising young manager in quickly could give us an advantage.

I think we need to concentrate on being the best we can be rather than rely on other teams to struggle due to circumstances.

Small advantages in what is going to be a very competitive league, could prove the difference? Think getting of to a good start could prove crucial.

Doesn’t matter what anyone else does.

Doesn’t matter when we get them.

    The targets are;

    50 points to stay up
    70 points for play offs
    90 points for promotion
100 points to win the league

Those are the targets. What everyone else does only matters when there’s 3 games left

RB about to announce Ole Werner as new manager. Another club gone for Rohl. Think he may get a chance with Leicester or possibly Ipswich?

Feel like we've dodged a bullet with Rohl to be honest.

It’s a weird one isn’t it. Pretty sure some stuff is going to come out regarding Chansiri that’s going to shed light on things, but on reflection I’m v happy with Still.

(Whilst reserving the right to totally change my mind on that come December!)

I think there are a lot more puns with Still than Rohl. So I’m happy.

    Morning all

If I look at the statistics and last season, I’d wonder how anyone could predict Southampton in the top three, you were shockingly bad.

Then I see clubs are interested in some of your players and the quoted fees attached and I wonder if they’re that good how on earth did you have a season like you’ve just had.

I think it’s a hard one to call until the transfer window is shut, Ipswich, Southampton and Sheffield will most likely see a few sales, it depends on who you attract or manage to loan and who you all hang on to.

Southampton have also taken a gamble on a young inexperienced coach, no idea how that will unfold, my gut feeling is he won’t last.

Last season's results have very little relevance to what happens next season. And do you know anything at all about Still? He's not inexperienced at all. He's managed in Ligue 1 for 4 seasons (and done very well). OK, he has no experience in English football, but that shouldn't be an issue.

I'd much rather be in our position than Leicester (who are looking at a huge points deduction, plus uncertainty over their manager) and potentially Ipswich if they lose McKenna to Brentford. We've got our manager in place very early so he will already be planning for the season ahead and we've got a very strong squad for the Championship, even if we lose Dibling, Ramsdale, Fernandes etc.
