Well, what do we say about that? Who would have predicted 5 goals?!
Great game, great win, and terrific all round performance.

Now, lets get behind them on a tricky Xmas game or two...and as I said last week, I had a good feeling...right team, right shape...lets keep the 4-2-4.

So, please for the moment, no more doomsayers on here... stick with PJ, support the team thru thick and thin. Not out of the woods yet...but onwards and upwards!

    Scotland...what a star.

A great result indeed and hopefully it will hep build some confidence. However I am still concerned by the amount of times when in an attacking position (particularly down the left) we kept on passing the ball backwards until our defenders had it and then they did a silly pass! I really hope this win will help to settle the nerves of some of the players and we can cut out all the silly mistakes, which there was still a lot of today!! However all in all a great game of footy, even with the two-goal cushion I was biting my nails right up to the end, but I am happy tonight.

Scotland was superb, his hold up play was brilliant. And even though Andrews got his goals today, I thought his defensive play was very good, although he did give the ball away a couple of times.

Sonko had a bit of a shocker, his game play today reminded me abit of Delaney, getting caught out of position and being terrible on the ball.

Also I've defended Edwards as a RWB for a while but after that we need a new RB asap, he was the big weak link in the defence.

I have to say I think that noone on this earth would have predicted that result at halftime. We weren't that bad in the first half, we certainly lacked confidence but the effort was there, Barnsley were brilliant though. 2nd half showed some superb character to win after being 2-0 down after 7 straight defeats to the team 2nd in the form league is a great acheivement. Lets hope we can build on this now. Automatic promotion here we come!!!

Well…the second half certainly was. The first half was largely ropey as evidenced by my dis being decidedly gruntled at halftime.

With that second half performance you have to wonder what in the name of spam has been going on. That’s the sort performance we know this squad is capable of.

Andrews and Collins are off home soon. Bullard needs to get his act together and we need to BUY (not loan) a quality right back and a quality central defender ASAP.

Morning all! Well, hung-over or what after all that excitement! Any chance do you think of us going for Collins or Andrews?

I think we can allow Sonks the odd shocker, perhaps unnerved by the early red card.

A decent win against Derby could set us up for a few more points over Xmas....

Fantastic result yesterday, what a game for the neutral.!

I would like to think that this will give the guys confidence to push on from here, but defensively we are an absolute shambles....TBH.

Well, that should have been a yellow for Sonks, sorry, but while I share your enthusiasm and optimism itfcptc about Auto-promotion, I have alwasy said, if, and it is a big if, we can all move on now, keep the same players on the park (those not departing), same formation, and build on this massive confidence boost to everyone at Town, back room, PJ, all staff and of course the loyal fans (those who turn up whatever the run of fortune), then, I am sure we can climb to a respectable top 10. We are after all only half way thru the season. promotion - not this year, but with a few fresh young players brought in at RB etc, then maybe next campaign.

I hope to be proved wrong! Warky - you are quiet! Death of IPTFC? I think not, hang on in there!

Spanish, tbf he's not that bad, but he was often pulled all over the place yesterday though and like delaney always is, finds himself detatched from the 3 other defenders as shown for the penalty, Andrews was the one chasing the player and there was a huge hole there were Sonko had been. I do like Sonko though, he's one of those who is limited especially when on the ball and can perhaps for the time being be seen as a bit of a stop gap but in the air is superb and is in general not quite as rash as Delaney. But we really really do miss McAuley this year.

We still need players in every position tbh apart from LB, although I'm confident with the players we have even if Andrews and Collins don't come back that we can still have a decent season. I'd like to see Drury be brought back and perhaps also Murray been given a try a little more, rather than bringing Ellington on we could be giving someone like Murray a go. Priorities are CB and RB possibly DM and another winger. Strikers we are ok on in terms of number but clearly can still improve in that area and also we need our own permanent GK. I'd like us to keep Collins and Andrews but aslong as he is not played as an out and out attacking midfielder, he's much better sitting in front of the back 4 and then attacking from deep, what a shot he's got on him though, never known a player with such a consistently accurate and powerful shot from distance, its almost lampardesc

I'd like to see Killgalon at CB, and maybe I've seen Townsend is likely to be on his way out of tottenham, I think we should pull out all the stops to try and sign him(although I feel that a premierleague club will probably go for him) and in terms of goalkeeper maybe Loach from Watford or I don't know what the situation with Fraser Foster is from Newcastle(I know he's on loan to Celtic) but that could be perhaps an interesting avenue to go down.

Anyone else think Scotland deserves another contract? his hold up play has been superb in alot of games this year and I think its no coincidence that when he doesn't play or has a poor game, our whole game seems to go to pot. Shame he's not a bit taller and 10 years younger!!

I'd keep the same team for the next match with the possible exception of bringing in Wabarra for Edwards.

One thing that did worry me was how gungho we are, we were 1-0 down yesterday after 7 straight defeats, most teams would have been trying to be tight at the back, but half our players were at the other end of the pitch when Barnsley were attacking, I don't if that shows courage or stupidity but it worked yesterday.

Southcoastoldgaffer, I said that with a slight pinch of salt, noway are we going to go for automatic promotion this year, I said at the start of the season I would be happy with a midtable finish this season and how its gone so far I'd certainly be happy with that. If we can build on this performance and not get ourselves in a relegation battle I can see perhaps going on a decent run toward the end of the season just missing out on the playoffs. This result also does not mean we have stopped the rot, we could quite easily go on another bad run, however hopefully it will be a big confidence booster for the players.

How ridiculous is this league though, teams go from brilliant runs to loosing so many games in a row(its not just us) and then some of the results are just ridiculous, no result surprises me, although like I said I don't think anyone on this earth thought we would get back into that game at half time, hopefully that was rock bottom!! I have to say that has to be one of the best/remarkable games in our history, for me its up there with performances of that Sheffiled Utd match where we won 3-2 after being 2-0 down. It was nice to watch the football league show last night!! COYB

Got to say fantastic comeback from the tractor boys...five second half goals at an in-form team, impressive. What a topsy-turvy season you appear to be having - at least it ain't dull

Now who have the saints got again next week, Ah yesss.....<laugh>

absolutely amazing game chaps! couldn't believe how bad you were in the first half - possibly the most inept performance i've ever seen from a championship team, so to turn it around as you did took some doing! barnsley could have been about four up by half time and i really felt it could be another peterborough but scoring so quick after half time changed the match and gave you momentum. had you not scored the next goal i think you'd have been hammered but it was such a bizarre match! barnsley obviously felt the match was won at half time and as is often the case, 2-0 is a dangerous scoreline if you aren't concentrating. i couldn't stop laughing at that nutty goal line scramble where sonko, who was abysmal throughout by the way, completely miskicked against his own post. it really was an incident and indeed a game that summed the championship up perfectly... bloody bonkers! <ok>
