The season is over. Unless you hear otherwise from the club then it’s business as usual. Like others have said, you don’t announce a manager with a 2 year contract is staying. Plus it’s been 2 weeks since the final and nearly 2 weeks since the last game, if he was getting sacked then it would have happened by now.
Time enough for a new manager, but the time window is small. That aside, how does any candidate see the role ?? - You immediately get to test yourself in a CL campaign. - You have a squad that collectively have some potential if coached and managed well enough - The remnants of the clubs' last great squad (Son, Davies etc) are gone, or effectively finished. - You will have a reasonable transfer budget (probably much better than you may be accustomed to) , but tis not boundless. - The scouting network is not particularly impressive. - The club academy is not functioning well. For all those touted as Spurs managers, how do people see them in the reality of the above ??
Experience suggests that signs of possible inertia are evidence of the lack of any plan as to what should come next. Venkatesham has had less than a week in the job. Paratici's appointment is 4 weeks away (if the strong rumours are to be believed). Scott Munro and Johan Lange are still in place. The board is being completely remodelled with fresh faces... ...and COYS Daniel is the ringmaster of this circus. Does he stick with the hero...or sack the clown? He has no ****ing idea whatsoever...and if there's any use to be gained from all of this change, he won't have any meaningful input into it. One can only hope that whatever decision is reached is based on the long term interests of the football club (by going with the right choice), rather than ENIC's short term interests (quelling the bad press and fan displeasure they've rightly been accumulating). Experience suggests that, left to his own devices, Levy will let Ange continue into next season, but he'll be gone by Christmas. I can only hope that's not what happens.
If there are too many cooks in the kitchen, Levy needs to pull rank Especially as he knows full well the farce that occurred thanks to Comolli folding his arms, sticking out his lower lip and saying he only wanted to work with Juande Ramos as if Martin Jol was two weeks out from retirement due to terminal illness or something
The first part of this window closes on Tuesday. I didn’t expect Spurs to be active in it as the manager has been on holiday and it’s mainly for the clubs in the club World Cup. I’m critical of the club dragging its heels but imo that’s not the case here
It almost inevitably means the exact opposite, though. Levy just leaks his support via club mouthpieces, most of the time. He did so with Postecoglou last season after our league form became unsupportable.
Feel free to provide an example of Uncle Roman or Todd Bollo voicing support for their managers Shouldn't be too hard, there's surely twenty years worth of evidence of them doing so at some point...
Crook by name, Crook by nature Ever since he was caught out regurgitating aggregator accounts claiming he had some insider info, the only reason to pay attention to him is when he's being put in his place
Thank you big boy Ange for delivering us our first European trophy for over 40 years I for one is very grateful that you took the decision to sack off the league for it best of luck in the future let’s see what mug Levy got lined up to compete with Pool, City, Arsenal, Newcastle and Villa
