I'm not sure that the Football League would class Bart having a nightmare as an absoloute emergency though. Now, if Hammond were to injury him in training during the week...
CRBA. You, Sir, have hit the nail on the head. Feel desperately sorry for Bart, he deserves better than some of the grief that is being thrown at him on here. Bart did have a howler, but Saints had something like 21 shots today, 11 on target (NB: Stats aren't my strong point). Surely some of the blame (if there is to be any) has to lie with the forwards for not converting. Anyhow. As Nige will have undoubtedly said in his post match, time to draw a blue line and move on.
I feel sorry for him, he had a mare yes but once given a few games he'll get his match confidence back. What I want to know is why he rarely plays for the reserves?
Rich - agree other players wernt at their best but with bart it was not just the goal conceeded he failed to deal with a couple of other speculative shots and looked uncomfortable with backpasses. nerves/focus/confidence - dont know what it was, stayed on his line instead of coming for crosses. What needs to happen before his next game to build his confidence
You have to have a back up goalkeeper. In the PL that can be a top class keeper...bit harder to get one at Championship level. Bart is better than he showed to day. Right from the start the ball was bouncing off him which shows how tense he was. It may be his temperament which stops him being a class keeper. The demand of coming out at SMS for the first time in ages for a team top of the League and a crowd with high expectations proved too much for him. Can everyone see now why Adkins goes with Kelvin? Let's hope that Adkins and his staff can work on Bart because we may need him before the end of the season.
Very true RaWMoK. I was watching on the telly and yes, after the first few catches with his chest I was iffy everytime he was passed the ball or had to make a save. There was one moment in the second half where he did come off his line and made a decent save (whilst hammering into a Saints player), looked better after that but then again the ball did spend most of its time up t'other end! He is a complete confidence player and hopeful Big Nige, Crosby and Deano can turn it around for him.
Adkins post match says in practice he is always excellent, lest we forget Adkins was a keeper so he should know. I think even if Davies is fit, Adkins will play Bart or his confidence will be shot
This is the same player who was signed by Burley & who did brilliantly for us until he got injured isn't it ? Some thought we would be buggered without him , I was one of them . KD saved the day & Now Bart is back has 1 **** game and people are calling for his head ? ****ing Unreal !!!!!!!!! GIVE THE MAN A CHANCE . watch RICKIE LAMBERTS INTERVIEW ON SAINTS pLAYER , SAYS IT ALL imho .
Goalkeepers differ from every other position on the pitch. The thing with goalkeepers is that they are normally at their best in their thirties. Bart has a while to go yet so plenty of time to show what he can do. He has stayed loyal to us so deserves some respect. Yes Bart had a bad game today and he will need all the fans to get behind him and support him as his confidence today will be dented so all the Muppets who have slated him after one league game in God knows how long should stop and think before venting their anger as it is the last thing he needs
My one thought on the matter is how do you think all of your nasty criticism is going to help our cause, if Bart is all that we have, then we should be giving him our support, he was shaky, yes he made a mistake and it cost us, yes, but surely you need to encourage him to get back and play a blinder against the Skate and all will be forgiven, one game could change everything, so how about giving him a break, the alternative will help no one.
saw him against Preston - had one dodgy moment but overall a good game, and in the ML tournament he was outstadning against Bremen so e can do it
Maybe all he lacks is enough real big game action trotting out at Staplewood every week does him no good at all so the need for maybe a more seasoned back up to Kelvin looks sensible send Bart out loan and let him play regular real match football to build the lads confidence . He looked like a rabbit in the headlights of a steamroller from his first touch of the ball today
