Greater Manchester Police have arrested a man after a police sergeant was injured in an alleged hit-and-run. The officer, who has not been named, was hurt when his legs were crushed between two vehicles, the force said. A car "reversed into the officer several times" on Frodsham Street, Rusholme, at approximately 18:00 on Friday. The driver then fled the scene, the force said. A 41-year-old man is in custody and has been arrested on suspicion of assault, dangerous driving and failure to stop, GMP added. Wishing her colleague a "speedy recovery", Assistant Chief Constable Steph Parker condemned any assault on an officer as "wholly unacceptable". These assaults take officers "away from being able to serve and protect the public, which is what they come to work each shift to do", she said in a statement released by GMP. Assistant Chief Constable Parker added: "This incident is a reminder of the risks that our frontline officers face daily as they go about their duties to keep communities safe and respond to incidents." The GMP sergeant involved in the alleged hit-and-run is being treated in hospital and is not believed to have life-threatening or life-altering injuries. An investigation into the incident is now under way. Thanking people who had already come forward with information, the assistant chief constable asked anyone who had relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to call police on 101.
Sounds like they’ve been targeted. Two Scottish men have been killed in a shooting at a bar in southern Spain, according to Spanish officials. A gunman fired several shots at Monaghans Bar in Fuengirola in Andalusia on Saturday evening. Javier Salas from the central government in the Malaga province, confirmed to BBC News both men were believed to be Scottish. Spanish media reported that officers from the region's specialist and violent crime unit (UDEV) have launched an investigation. The Foreign Office has been contacted for comment.
That guy that caused utter carnage on the A1...he only got 1 year 2 months, even though it's claimed he put lives at risk and injured seven coppers... https://www.itv.com/news/tyne-tees/...-a1-crash-which-injured-seven-police-officers
How does a 20-year-old get sent to a young offenders borstal thingy? Surely old enough for a proper nick. Could have just googled the answer which I now have. Good looking bloke so would have been bummed to death in Wormwood Scrubs.
I just can't get my head round it. I did say after the Liverpool Parade incident, I can't see sentencing holding up, because motoring offences never do, unless you kill someone. If this guy can go on a totally reckless ride, put lives at risk and injure seven coppers, yet only get 14 months it's just laughable. It's a whole waste of tax payers money, chasing him, writing off however many cop cars, then the cost of taking him to court, and now the cost of keeping him at tax payers expense it's all just totally ridiculous - I can't see how anyone can be happy with this sentencing...apart from the accused.
I would hope so, utter joke of a sentence. That says to every joyrider, every person that has something to hide, it's worth doing a runner - cause as much carnage as you like, if you get caught it's just a slap on the wrist. Just don't boast about it on FB because otherwise you'll get 30 months.
Hew Edwards had over 400 catagory A child abuse videos and photos, cat A can mean anything from rape, and torture and death. He got 6months suspended. And that was after he booked himself into rehab. Cos the police normally let you take a few weeks off before coming for you..... Not Like all the ****s seem to get over here... Really light af sentences. What that says about our judges and justice system I don't know but it's disgusting and happens far to fuking often.
Big fan of some ‘influencer’ type tweeting that someone was rude for telling him to not watch TikToks out loud on the train and it going viral with thousands of people calling him a ****. Would’ve been basically unthinkable to play music out loud on a packed train maybe a decade ago. We used to be a country.
More Maddie McCann investigations. Don’t really see the point tbh when there are so many more recently missing people.
If her parents had not ****ed off and left their very very young children unattended for hours while they got pissed with their friends she would not be missing
The woman who left her children at home alone, that died in a house fire, got 10 years imprisonment. The McCanns were professional parents so that made them better parents than anyone else somehow - and probably loads more similar cases where the parents got sent down for leaving kids home alone, even if it was for a short period of time. Parents worst nightmare having your child abducted, but when you have klds it comes with responsibility, and the McCanns duty of care failed. She was only 3 years old ffs.
I agree with Bywood though, not sure why they've started searching again after all this time. As was said, far more recent cases that could be looked at. Also why start now as we come into June and the hotter months. You've had all winter and spring to do this. I think that Christian guy got 7 years for rape of an elderly woman, not sure how much time he has served without looking it up. I suppose the fear for the police at some point in the future he will be released, and they probably want to keep him behind bars for as long as possible, understandable.
I didn't know this, I thought it was one image from that guy that sent it. Never realised he had all that lot on his phone or wherever.
If that'd been a couple living in a tower block on a council estate you can guarantee they'd have faced charges
