Apologies if already spoken about but it’s AFCON this season - as much as I’d LOVE Diallo to come back and Wilf Singo to sign they’d both be statement signings for sure but we’d lose them for up to 5/6 weeks or so I think it is? And I’m positive it’s at the very end of the year so just when we’ll have fixtures coming thick and fast. Not sure we’d be in a position to lose 2 key players for such a period.
Annoyingly it was meant to be played during the summer but it changed hosts (I think that's the reason)
Don’t other leagues have a break over Xmas? Would make sense to arrange international tournaments in hotter countries like AFCON or the World Cup in the desert in the winter and have a break from domestic. That’s just because I hate going to the match in the freezing cold on a Tuesday night though
But we'll lose Abdullahi to Nigeria for it after he scores 10 goals in August and makes his name for himself.
Yeh it sounds incredibly difficult doesn't it Winning home games against other clubs around us is going to be so important. As is not losing the away ones.
In a strange way, ourselves, Burnley & Leeds may have to rely on eachother to take points off the established teams. Give the Wolves, Evertons & Fulhams something to think about. I think the rest of the lower Premier League have had the pressure taken off of them, particularly season just gone. Knowing that the bottom 3 seemed pretty nailed on gives them a chance to spend and perform with more freedom. We may need to gang up on them in order to drag them down with us. If Leeds can maybe shake things up a bit, it might end up being to our benefit
A lot will come down to the transfers obviously but an enormous amount will come down to how much the young lads like Rigg and Mayenda will improve now that they have time to unwind, bank that experience and use it as a big step forward during pre-season. I've began deluding myself that we're going to see some big improvements from quite a few lads already here.
decent point this. We actually need teams to all be taking points off eachother, rather than have two other teams that are losing consistently. We need it to be close across the board to give us the best chance, even if it makes it tense.
Was saying this to some Leeds fans at work, we need to look out for eachother really - have Burnley/Leeds get 30 points each but finish bottom 2, enough points to take points off the teams above but not enough to surpass us, gives us a better chance of survival.
Blake feels like a Mundle-esque signing? Same position and moved abroad young similarly. But I know nowt about him
Yep. Its better for us to risk finishing bottom on 30 points than be guaranteed finishing 18th because Leeds and Burnley have 12 each.
