I do agree. This first-choice back 4, despite being so good, should only have really been a temporary measure'. Coloccini, Saylor and Krul make up 85% of the defensive ability of the back 5, whilst Simpson tries his best on the right and Jonas helps out the fairly ****e Raylor on the left. However, this stops Jonas from being able to bomb forward and help us with attacks. The defense worked so well up until the injuries because, whilst Simpson and Raylor struggled to stop crosses coming in, Saylor and Colo dealt with them when they reached the box. After all, bypassing a full back to get a cross in is one thing, but scoring is another. Now, with them out, not only are the opposition able to get crosses in just as much as they did before, but when they reach the box, the two poor centre backs can't deal with them and the goals start pouring in. Norwich's goals were so, so easy today. It was a textbook cross and then a big forward blasting it in from point blank range. They were barely hampered by our defence.
How very strange, why would you enjoy seeing a league table on MOTD tonight. Does it being the BBC make it more real? The site you are on, is on the internet, if you do a search on Google, open another page type google.co.uk, then in the search box type Premier League Table. You will then get dozens of results just click on one of those links and your sorted. No need to wait for the BBC tonight at all.
Honestly don't you think your original jibe was one of the lamest ever? Enjoy those three seconds of seeing the table and those 5 minutes wating your team getting beaten.
Yup, no rhyme nor reason to his MOTD comment. Or backing up his post. But then he would have to explain what the hell he was on about. He definitely isn't the brightest of them. Like you say 3 seconds of a table on show and Newcastles woes go out the window.
ha'way, they lost to man city but played well (and they are the best team in the league, and destroyed the reigning champions 6-1 at their own place), drew with united, and were unlucky to not get a point against chelsea - they've had one bad performance and that was today. their problem is that they will miss taylor a lot this season, and without collocini like today you could say they are very average at the back. pardew got their defence playing greater than the sum of its parts before though, so maybe he can do it again. he really will be earning his corn if he can turn perch and williamson into solid premier league quality players though...
Getting back to the original question - It looks like the Mags have a very good work ethic and some lads with canny skills that Pardew has done well to cultivate but he seems clueless when it comes to making substitutions and their squad seems wafer thin. I think for a while Bruce wasn't playing the team to its strengths at all and seemed tactically inept. Both managers seem to have favourite players that the fans don't rate.
Even though we lack squad depth in places, I think losing 3 CB's and two center mids would kill any side, regardless of squad depth.
HMT welcome to our nightmare! Players out, bad referee's, losing games you should at least draw........... x
No. Coloccini is back soon, Williamson is returning from injury soon and we should buy backup in January. IF things to go plan, we shouldn't see too much of todays back 4 in future games.
