Nah, it's made up nonsense. Everything's fine. I remember not that long ago posting such stuff about what's going on in plain sight but got told I'm racist, far right, plain wrong, etc etc. And yes,,I know full well it's our own too to a degree at least. It's near enough everywhere, bar a shrinking number of outposts that are an absolute pleasure to occasionally escape to. This country is absolutely broken and ****ed; we need a radically different approach to leadership of the country. Seems like more & more are finally waking up to the reality of the massive issues that have been progressively building up for many many years now. I still wonder what it will take to reach a tipping point for the law abiding tax paying 'great' British public?

There are loads of Great people everywhere in Britain, that doesn't hide the fact that they see their areas becoming a hotspot for crime, underfunding and a lack of police presence.

Thanks, yes, I'm sick and tired of this 'far right' label. It's **** all to do with being left, right or centre. The growing support for needed radical change is coming from right across the old outdated political label spectrum. It's so lazy and damn right incorrect to apply the old labels. I too fear it's too late....but continue to hope it isn't. People are increasingly waking up, finally.

I will echo the sentiment that the country is ****ed.

It's a different place to what I guess most on here grew up in. The new arrivals have a different mentality to those who came after ww2 and upto the 80s. The local population has also changed in their attitudes.
Without going all political, back in the early 80s with a smaller population unemployment got to 4 million. No food banks, no blatant shop lifting, no job vacancies of any sort, but almost everyone was looking and trying to find work. A number of my small circle of friends got through it and went on to have successful and productive lives.
Today a much larger population and unemployment is 1.5 million, there are companies crying out for workers simple jobs no qualification required even at minimum wage thats £12.50 an hour but somehow at the same time we have a cost of living crisis, even the police and NHS staff have been claimed to need food banks.
No one gives a **** about the place any more, drop litter as a kid and your parents would give you a clip around the ear, now people are taking in a vehicle rubbish to the end of the built up area and dumping sacks full of rubbish. Every layby and car park is full of take away wrappers.
All in all it's a fairly bleak outlook.

Agree with your post but not sure on the unemployment figures and job availability?

I've been unwell for just shy of a year now ,I'm not technically unemployed as they switch your benefit over to ESA(Employment Support Allowance) and there are many like me...

I'm not complaining,I get £140 a week as opposed to £90 jobseekers but here's the thing...I'm looking for work, obviously I can't do vigorous manual work but I want to work, anything.I'm a forklift driver but I'd consider security, industrial cleaning etc.

I can't get anything!!! I could go on about my job hunt and why I think there are certain individuals being given jobs in front of me but I'm not for obvious reasons!!

We might think it's bad now, wait till AI and robotics kick in properly and jobs disappear. Worst case projections are it will be an extinction scenario(but some people/companies will make a LOT of money in the meantime- Sam Altman ffs:emoticon-0104-surpr), even if it's not, it's going to be grim.

Not been looking for work myself but just on my regular travels I see loads of businesses with signs in the window looking for staff. The local b+m shop, Aldi, a few pubs, that sort of thing.

The pictures.... I posted about 2 months ago about these Eastern Europeans walking around in dressing gowns and slippers, then getting into Daddy's or their pimps BMW... I read the article with interest but then pissed myself laughing at the response from Hull City Council and Humberside Police. I go down Hessle Road quite often and I have NEVER seen a Community Officer, let alone police patrols. In short, they dont give a 4X. its too much trouble for both of them. Neither have a clue how to deal with it, let alone the inclination.

Underneath it all, in an area that should have been promoted through its history, not just a mural on a ****ing wall, the sum effort of Hull County Councils efforts, in preserving the history of the area, Hessle Road people, proper Hessle Road people are decent people.

Yep,you only need to look at the supermarkets cutting their staff in favour of scanning your own grub.Sometimes you go into the shops and there are no tills open!!!

AI is screwing a lot of stuff up for sure. But I'm not sure if it has the skill to manufacture storm shadow missiles and that seems to be the job market we're currently opting to invest in...

Well, will it be grim? Surely society could adapt so those working, work less, have more free time and robots do the dangerous and tedious work.. I'd happily work three days a week for the same money as five, and use my two extra free days to do what I enjoy.

More likely that, like when computers became commonplace from the 1980s, certain jobs will go, but then more will be created and life will continue the same.
