I doubt anything will finish Packham mind, the feckers was charging people a fortune to fly in a jet to see some natural wonder under his supervision. I take your point though.
Watkins, and a few I can't remember, going back to their time in the Championship. They are pretty well ran. Not as good as Brighton mind.
Given that the markets we are looking at are far and wide, it does make me wonder why we don't dip in to the Asian market more. Can only think of Ji and Ki that have played for us before. Whenever there is a world cup, the South Korean sides seem to have a fantastic work rate, always putting a proper shift in, something our fans really appreciate. (the Japan side in the last world cup fitted this too). There's always the added bonus of shirt sales and brand exposure too. Wonder if there is any reason we've not exploited this market.
There's not bucketfuls of talent, suppose not everyone can have a Japanese or Korean. You're right though it's a great commercial opportunity and good players do exist - maybe more attainable now that we're back in the big time.
I personally don’t like it. I would really like someone with a proper bit of quality and experience come in. For all I’m more than happy with Isidor and Mayenda I do feel another option that has either done it in the prem already or a top league who is physical would be needed
Totally agree, Danns would be third choice now, if we are signing a striker it should be someone who instantly improves us. He'll be a good player but the hype from Liverpool fans seems a bit much for what he is right now.
Agree. We’re desperate for some quality to support Mayenda. I’m not too confident on Isidor doing the business at PL level
I want Mayenda to be our main striker so I’d be happy with somebody of Danns’ profile as a backup. Would want absolute certainty that his back issue is sorted though,
Feels like needlessly choosing to not strengthen our attack, Danns has played 17 minutes of league football at any level. He needs a season in the championship for me.
you’re probably right but I don’t want anyone blocking Mayenda’s pathway. Unless we’re going 4-4-2 then absolutely.
If we are committing to the 442 I am fine with Danns signing, bringing in another forward and loaning Abdullahi. If we are going with the 433 then i'd rather not sign Danns.
I don't think being a rotation player would block his pathway, but we currently have nobody else id feel comfortable starting in the prem. Didn't even start half our games in the championship and look how much he kicked on, development is done off the pitch as well as on it and I trust the individual player development programme he's been put on. Tbh though a part of me agrees because I just want to see the kid playing all the time, but if we stay up then we can afford to start giving him more and more games - go down and we would lose him.
This is where it gets tricky. There's two valid sides to this argument. I'm with you that I want Mayenda to be the main man. If Danns offers competition and depth then we can really focus our spending on strengthening other key areas. I'd rather we spent £50m on a CB, DM and RW than stretch it to include a striker as well.
this is it. I genuinely believe Mayenda will score 10 goals if he’s our main striker all season. Where most of our goals will need to come from is counter attacks and we need wingers chipping in with goals and assists. I’d rather our main budget in attack was spent on two new starting wingers.
