You’ve all been there, it’s 2am in Romeo’s on a Saturday night. You tried every trick in the book to pull a decent looking bird and failed miserably. The lights go on and you’re left with the pick of the “also rans”. Suddenly you’re not so picky, your standards drop and you approach the best of a bad bunch. She may not be a stunner but it’s worth it in the end when you wake up after the best shag you’ve ever had. Jakirovic could just be that shag.
First impressions are everything now. Like @originallambrettaman said, Jakirović needs to make a good impression with the squad and the players need to respect him and trust his judgement. It’s a relationship that goes both ways. If he comes in like Walter did by refusing to engage with them on a personal level and takes his frustrations out by belittling them for mistakes then he’ll be gone by Christmas and it will be Groundhog Day.
I know its not just me that think its a ****ing mental that a recruitment strategy is based around where the owner is from. If I buy City, I will demand players are born in the HU postcode, thats it. Its not like he's Brazilian or Italian....he's ****ing Turkish....and they are ****!
Lol. Can’t remember the last time we scored a header or volley from a cross. We put a lot of crosses into the box under Walter and Sellés and did **** all with them.
as i said a couple pages ago his two first objectives are be liked by the players be able to set up a team well defensively those are the two bare minimum foundations needed for success especially in this league anything more will ultimately depend on our recruitment and our injured players being good again
thats an interesting stat also, especially in the champ we had 4 headed goals last season, the lowest teams like derby, millwall, oxford, qpr all had at least 10 , and when you dont have the quality of players the better teams do headed goals are ****ing invaluable also only plymouth had less goals from dead ball situations than us oxford, portsmouth and derby dominated those stats
Do you know how many we scored from open play/crosses? I can only remember the Hughes goal from a free kick. Can’t remember the other three headers.
If you're counting Coyles crosses in this that flew over everyone and went out for a throw in, then there was **** all that could have been done with them.
Palmer was the last one, in the early win vs Stoke https://fbref.com/en/squads/bd8769d1/2024-2025/goallogs/c10/Hull-City-Goal-Logs-Championship
Pedro scored twice from crosses. One was a low one against Portsmouth and the other was a header against WBA. Both towards the end of Walter's tenure, I think it was an element of his style and Pedro was quite a good fit for it. I can hardly remember him having crosses to attack in the second half of the season.
That and another goal where he took it along the byline and shot, similar to Puerta's goal against Oxford. Don't see how either could be considered to be from a cross.
