Mansell and Petresse driving that vicious FWB14 Williams slingshot. Although Riccardo only won one race he finished runner up to Nigel.
Could you please expand on that quote. For example, how did the WMSC decision effect their driving ability.
if Hamilton and Alonso were not paired up in 2007 and the became team mates later on and mature experianced drivers then it would be the ultimate pairing. but 2007 was a sham for all parties involved
what do you want me to expand on --- we both know alonso and hamilton dropped the ball during 07 because neither of them won the WDC , it would not surprise me if the behind the scenes parafanalia had a adverse effect on the whole team in some way or another --
Button/Alonso? If the top drivers could at least pretend to work together then having any of the top 4/5 together would be a dream. At the moment Button and Hamilton at least seem to get on which is apparently all that matters
Schumacher and Barrichello were a great pairing. They may not have been the best two drivers on the grid, but they were very effective and successful. The best driver pairing doesn't need to include the best two drivers.
I think it has the be Senna/Prost, but I wasn't around back then so apparently my opinion is irrelevant. In modern times (when I started watching), I'm going to say Button/Hamilton is strong.
Was a bit frustrated with certain things and needed some rehabilitation time with some Tifosi. In future I'll try to avoid starting or commenting to Hamilton related threads.
I'm thinking that a word filter, changing the word Hamilton to say, Alex Yoong would be best for all concerned.
It would surprise me if you gave an explanation as to why their failure to score 2 more points was as a result of the WMSC decision. I suspect that you included the word "cheating" as an excuse to have a sly dig. Where were the "balls dropped"? McLaren, Alonso and Hamilton were working to three separate winning agendas. Winning is the name of the game.
what do you want me to say -- alonso and hamilton both dropped the ball as neither of them won the WDC in an ultra competitive car --- whatever " agendas " they were working to - what have i said about mclaren and 07 that is not true ---
It is impossible to answer your question as we can never be sure that you understand what the word "true" actually means. It is true that you have an opinion. It is also true that opinions are not facts. It is also true that you have evaded my question but I never expected a sensible response anyway.
what do you want me to say -- i have a belief that the behind the scenes nonesense that was going on at mclaren during 07 would have had a detrimental effect on the whole team - i have never said anything about mclaren or there drivers that is not true , did mclaren not cheat , and did not both alonso and hamilton fail to win the WDC in 07 --
Hi Tomtom. I was around "back then" (and for a long time before too!) but although you weren't, your opinion is relevant if you've done a bit of research. Also, your opinion of "modern times" since you started watching, suggests a pretty good understanding - to me at least.
Mario Andretti and the late Ronnie Peterson were a great pairing in the Lotus team of the late seventies. It say's something about Peterson's talent that despite his fatal accident at the Italian Grand Prix he still finished second in the drivers championship
I could never quite distinguish whether Ronnie (who was actually contracted Lotus number two driver) let Mario take the WDC or was, is, Mario a better driver than I gave him credit for. I suspect Mr Andretti was probably the better man overall.
