There were endless posts regarding how Sheff Utd were 'investing' in the future by bringing in Kieffer Moore, Brereton Diaz, Cannon, etc.

It was suggested we do the same and that it would 'push us over the line'.

I argued, at the time, that buying players like those was no guarantee of promotion and that failing would leave us with highly paid players in the Championship. Conversely we'd have those players in the PL when, in my opinion, none are capable of succeeding at that level. How would we feel if our first signing was Kieffer Moore or Campbell?

Sheff Utd are heading for trouble and a huge conundrum in my opinion. Do they 'invest' in more players, while the parachute money vanishes, knowing they risk failure again. Can they afford to sack Wilder and take a flier with a new man who would want his own staff, players and style ...

... whatever happens it'll be an interesting sideshow next season.

I think that next season will be the most difficult yet to go up from.

Ipswich, Leicester, saints, Wrexham, Birmingham will all have money to play with

thank god for RLB, KS, KLD, Big man and Tom Watson

The club was fooked before he stepped in. Like him or loathe him we were on a downward spiral to hell and he was instrumental in stabilising us and we are where we are now partly because of him .

I didn't see anyone else jumping in to take us on.
Don't get me wrong, it wasn't great but we were in freefall and he took a gamble. He forked out for Will grigg <laugh>
Whatever anyone thinks of his motives, we are where we are now due to his intervention. We could of been a lot worse off.

Well you said it. No one else was prepared to take the risk :emoticon-0148-yes:

He did, he wasn't great, he got a deal with a great owner. Maybe he had better offers as was reported. Who knows. We're back in the premier League anyway :emoticon-0148-yes:

I'm not promoting a love in with SD.
I just don't think he was as bad as some think.
And even if he was as bad , I'm glad he came in when we were at a really low ebb because it's brought us KLD and back to the premier League.
    Get my drift ? :emoticon-0148-yes: <cheers>

When the full story comes out, there will be lots of humble pie to be eaten.
Charlie, knacked the job here, but both of them did not have enough money needed to do the job, but Charlie introduced Juan who brought in KLD, and it's history as they say.

You clearly know the full story Bob, so please tell us. Otherwise your mates will continue to get castigated by the supporters. And in the absence of anything to the contrary, quite rightly.

This is where KLD sets himself apart from the ownership of Quinn and Short. He's capable of ignoring the outside noise from those screaming for us to blow millions like previous regimes to get us to the promised land.

If there was a story it would've come out by now Bob not that anyone would really be interested imo.

It's been years now and neither Donald nor Methven, despite having big mouths, have said anything.

Between them they put up £5m so not much of a risk to buy a club the size of Sunderland, now worth @£180m

KLD had lived/studied in the UK, watched football here and comes from a football family ...

... he wanted to become involved here and didn't need to be 'brought in' by anyone.

I'm sorry mate but, if you want to defend these two, you'll need to stop prevaricating and actually say something.

The reality is that Donald and Methven are as much a part of the past as Grigg or Simon Grayson, all but forgotten.

We have the Premier League to look forward to so this all needs putting to bed ...

... if you have something to say just say it or let it drop, it's starting to look like a grudge against the club.
