As proven by science...men and women having brain scans... women show arousal more often to watching videos of sex incompatible to that they claim to be attracted to more often then men. (Lesbians showing signs of arousal to straight sex, and straight women showing arousal to lesbian sex). That said, I don't fully believe the "born this way" argument, I think there is definitely a genetic component to sexuality, but men and women both can change orientation during their lives which proves it's not entirely genetic.
I have a female friend who was in an unhappy marriage, got out of it and decided she preferred growler. Had about three girlfriends in succession then changed her mind back again. She's been in a seemingly happy relationship with a decent bloke for about ten years now. I'd agree that men are generally either one thing or the other, though plenty of gay men got married and had kids for appearances' sake when being gay was deemed unacceptable, so they could still do it with a woman.
