I promised I wouldn’t! All I will say is I’ll be ****ing fuming if Pope starts as number 1 and we have two keepers on the bench, even during preseason.
You do realise it's like CCs reverse psychology. And that one day, at some point, we will have a game where the goalie gets injured and then his replacement gets sent off. Then you'll be complaining about why we have Trippier in goal for the 2nd half, instead of having a third choice goalkeeper on the bench. It's true it will happen. But it will only happen once Howe stops picking 2 substitute goalies. Each time he selects 2 on the bench, it prevents the scenario.
Delap joining Chelsea. I'm clearly biased, but I cannot fathom why young players keep going there to watch their careers die.
He chickened out of competing with Isak. He looks at Chelsea and thinks yeah I am better than their other strikers
I'm with Roly on this. Chelsea do kill careers. But every player thinks they will be 'the one'. Who exactly does Delap think he will start ahead of there? He will either be warming the bench or sent out on loan.
We lost out to them on Tosin as well lately, and I’d imagine a number of others. It’s irksome. Ultimately I think we were interested purely because he’s clearly a bargain. I don’t think necessarily he’s the be all and end all.
I just can’t believe how Chelsea can get away with the spending they have done over the last 3 years. It’s ludicrous how much they have spent/
Well GG, it strongly appears that they have special 'spend what you like' rules that only cover clubs like themselves and Man Utd. For these, overspending in terms of PSR / FFP can be brushed under the carpet of 'extenuating circumstances' such as COVID losses, or covered by selling assets for inflated values. Probably Arsenal and Liverpool would be allowed to behave like this too, if they ever chose to push it. Any other club even tries similar would be strung up.
It’s disgusting. It’s rotten. I hope we spend £150m legitimately and smash the **** out of the league next season.
