Saw an interview with Isak where he said he didn't want the no 9 shirt and would probably stick with 14.
I don't expect us to sign many 'household name' players, even if we can splurge. Isak, Bruno, Tonali were all fairly expensive, but hardly on everybody's radar as prime targets. The club clearly has a specific scouting syle. And with Mitchell now in the mix, I think we are even more likely to continue to recruit fairly young players with lots of potential. We also now tend to target those deemed to have a professional attitude towards training and team spirit over 'star' players with big egos. So if that means we sign 3 or 4 new players but I haven't heard of any them, that's fine by me. I'll trust the club's judgement and scouting policy 100%. If any mistakes are made along the way with players who don't work out, then so be it. I still think it's the correct approach overall.
Two different types of player that would both be useful squad players, even if we sign Delap or another option. The requirement for depth and the ability for Howe to rotate is essential for the next phase in the club's quest.
Isak Delap/Pedro Wilson Osula that's a nice stable and only one addition. I wouldn't have any problem with it anyway. Only a moron would come to take Wilsons shirt with Isak and Delap already ahead of him and they'd cost money.
Not if Isak and Delap/Pedro get injured.. This is the thing you have to cover for worst case scenarios. They can't buy or persuade top strikers to just be that worst case solution. They'd have to be either really stupid or have a major flaw. Money can then be spent on other areas of the 1st team.
If we’d had Isak, Delap and Osula this season we would have not only had decent cover, we’d have picked up more points and never had to suffer Wilson huffing and puffing around a pitch doing nothing. 3 CFs in a 433 or 343 is plenty. Gordon can even step in. No scenario needs us to waste squad place and, worse, minutes on Wilson.
Osula is an unknown and seemingly a red card waiting to happen. There's more evidence he's a RW player from what we've seen. Ultimately there's no harm in having 4 especially if they can play vs **** clubs in cups.
Any good? Psr stunt again or will Howe play him in about 10 years if he's a good lad on a day to day basis.
Striker? He's played all season at LW according to Transfermarkt. Maybe a Barnes replacement? Feels like a Cordero equivalent but for the other wing... Joan Garcia on the other hand I'm all for and would be very excited about...
Even more noise on top of this tweet, coming from Spanish journos now about Garcia choosing us. Apparently, according to them, his agent and nufc are now discussing personal terms and the agreement is imminent.
