Good Morning. It's Monday 26th May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Leeds United Eyeing Cresswell capture

As Leeds United prepare for their return to the Premier League, reports suggest they are considering a move for West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell. The 35-year-old is set to leave the London club this summer as part of Graham Potter's squad overhaul.

Cresswell, a seasoned Premier League veteran with over 300 appearances, brings a wealth of experience and versatility. Capable of playing as a left-back, centre-back, or even in midfield, his adaptability could prove invaluable for Leeds, especially when dealing with injuries and suspensions throughout the demanding Premier League season.

This next move is a significant one for Cresswell, potentially marking the final chapter of his impressive career. According to reports, Leeds United are seriously considering adding him to their squad. However, they face competition from newly promoted Wrexham, who are also eager to secure the experienced left-back's services.

Intriguingly, Leeds have also been linked with Cresswell's West Ham teammate, right-back Vladimir Coufal. While both players are in the twilight of their careers, acquiring them as free transfers would provide stability and a wealth of Premier League know-how to Daniel Farke's squad.

The potential acquisition of Cresswell addresses a clear need for Leeds. With Junior Firpo departing for Spain and Sam Byram's future uncertain, Farke requires both experience and cover in the left-back position. The club has already reportedly agreed personal terms with Kostas Tsimikas, who is expected to be the first of several new faces arriving at Thorp Arch next month. Adding Cresswell to the mix would further bolster Leeds' defensive options and provide valuable leadership as they navigate the challenges of the Premier League.

Leeds Eyeing Hamer capture after playoff heartbreak

Leeds United are reportedly keen on reigniting their interest in Sheffield United's attacking midfielder, Gus Hamer, following the Blades' failure to secure promotion via the Championship playoffs. The 27-year-old was a target for the Whites last summer, but the deal ultimately fell through after Chris Wilder had a meltdown.

Hamer enjoyed a stellar season for the Blades, featuring in 39 league games and accumulating over 3300 minutes of game time. His impressive performances earned him the Championship Player of the Season award, solidifying his reputation as one of the league's most dynamic attacking talents.

With only one year remaining on his contract, Hamer's transfer fee is expected to be significantly lower than the £20 million Leeds reportedly offered last summer. This presents a potentially attractive opportunity for the Whites to bolster their attacking options with a proven Championship performer.

However, Hamer isn't the only Sheffield United player likely to attract attention this summer. The Blades' squad is brimming with talent, and with several players entering the final year of their contracts, Leeds could also keep an eye on other potential targets. Midfielder Vinicius Souza and centre-back Anel Ahmedhodzic are two names that could also be of interest to the Elland Road outfit.

It's a refreshing change for Leeds, who often find themselves in similar positions, facing potential raids on their own players after failing to achieve promotion. This time, they have the opportunity to potentially benefit from another club's disappointment and strengthen their squad with high quality talent. The coming weeks will reveal whether Leeds will finally secure Hamer's signature, and whether they might also look to capitalise on Sheffield United's situation to acquire other valuable assets.

Hojlund linked with move across the Pennines

Rasmus Hojlund's Manchester United career could be cut short, with a potential move across the Pennines this summer. The Danish international, who arrived at Old Trafford in 2023 with high expectations and a hefty price tag, has struggled to find his footing, leading to speculation about a move to Turkey.

Leeds are in the market for a new number nine to bolster their attacking options. While Joel Piroe admirably carried the goal-scoring burden this season, securing the Championship Golden Boot, relying solely on him for Premier League goals might prove a gamble too far. Japanese international Daizen Maeda and Nigerian/Canadian powerhouse Promise David have also been linked with a move to Elland Road, suggesting the Whites are keeping their options open.

Fenerbahce, the Turkish Super Lig giants, are currently considered frontrunners for Hojlund's signature. However, Leeds newfound Premier League status and reportedly significant transfer budget could give them a crucial edge. Should Leeds decide to throw their hat into the ring, they possess the financial muscle to outmaneuver Fenerbahce in the pursuit of the Danish star.

Hojlund's potential arrival at Leeds could offer him a fresh start in a less demanding environment, allowing him to rediscover his scoring touch. For Leeds, securing a player of Hojlund's potential would be a significant statement of intent, signaling their ambition to not just survive, but thrive in the Premier League. The summer transfer window promises to be an exciting period for Leeds United fans as they look to build a squad capable of competing in the top flight.

Cresswell would have been useful in the Championship but not now. Apparently Soucek is available from West Ham for £20 million. That's would be a much better signing.

Hamer would improve us. If we can get him for around £8-10 million it would be a great signing.

Hojlund could turn out to be very good. There's more than a few scum players that have thrived away from that environment and Hojlund had a very promising future in the game until he went there. Wages could be a problem.

Promise David is a beast. Untapped potential. He could either be a Chris Wood type or an Enoch Showumni type. We wouldn't know until we got him.

    Morning all

I can’t believe reports myself that we’re interested in these 35 year old type players. Just because they have PL experience it doesn’t mean they’re any use at that age. Aaronson, Struijk and a good few others have PL experience as does every player who is being relegated.

I think and hope it’s lazy journalism and agents drumming up interest. I was reading up on the Promise David guy late last night, he looks good. A week today we’ll be hoping for one or two early signing

Morning all. In my simplistic view I don't why wed take a veteran from West Ham. They were dire this season and I believe they could go down next season. Why would we want their rejects. Hamer on the other hand, Id have no problem with. Buy him for 10m, that's 2m per year, a no brainer as wed have no trouble moving him on at that money if he doesn't work out

    Still gutted about Sheffield United.

Had £55 winnings riding on them beating Sunderland.

On signings, no point really in speculating. Unless you enjoy it, of course.

Personally I’d rather have a ****, more enjoyable and equally likely to affect the squad for next season.

don’t know how soucek suits our system. I’d only pay 20m for a 30 year old I thought would make a massive difference.

I imagine especially with his contract running down there’ll be a bit of interest in hamer. Like you say, at the right price he adds something different to us and didn’t look out of his depth (admittedly I didn’t see a lot of him) when I saw him in the prem.

Pretty much anyone we sign up front will a gamble. I watched a bit of David and he managed to look Ivan toney and habib habibou in the same game.

Can’t see hojlund coming. I’d like him though. He’d suit our system, kids only 22. And besides we have a long history of strikers who don’t score.

Think with Hojilund fee and wages will be a problem. Probably the same issue but I would quite like Darwin Nunez from Liverpool. I think there’s a player there who will start scoring goals soon.

I find that hard to believe. They probably offered £25m for him and we turned it down.

    Like a new signing innit
