Hamer of Sheffield utd is really good player who might be worth a look. Would definitely make Henderson a priority if possible too. Maybe a couple of years too early to go back for Pickford unfortunately imo.
I wouldn’t be totally against Henderson coming back but I also wouldn’t really be for it, and would prefer he didn’t. I can see the arguments for though regarding leadership and experience. Haven’t watched him play recently to know if his stamina is still there
It is sad that after the hard graft to get to the PL, we are not able to keep him for a year if it. Guest the brand and corporate side of the game just takes over at some point.
Not sure about that myself....I see Hendo in the same light as Steve Bould when Reidy brought him to the club...Having that mentality around the squad will be priceless
Isn’t it just that they count as pure profit rather than having to net off against their transfer fee? Surely they don’t count as double as PSR is still based on accounting principles. We defo need to find a way to keep the pipeline of academy or developed players going though, amongst the desire to stay up. PSR is an absolute killer if you get it wrong.
It is sad, but I don't begrudge him at all. If anything, I’m just pleased he came in to join us. He has played a huge part in getting us back to the big time and we will make a huge profit on his sale. Looking forward to see what we’re able to do with the money…
Oh aye. Definitely don't. He gave us the extra year and now the brand just takes over and plots the next move.
I really like Hamer and he can score and make goals out of nowt. My only reservation is with Jobe out Hamer and Le Fee makes us small. The addition of someone like Henderson and a taller winger or forward would help that.
My issue with Henderson is his legs have gone, watched him a few times for Ajax and he struggles against energy. He would be great in the dressing room so def not against it but we need more physicality and energy if we have any chance of staying up and he doesn't bring that at this stage of his career
Not even just the brand here though. A champions league club with solid family history have come calling. I’m also gutted like and hoped we’d get the chance to see him develop.
Don’t mind Jobe leaving, if we’re really poor next year it’ll be hard for him to stand out and may hinder his career. he achieved his goals here so I won’t hold a grudge
A simple example - we have made £10m on Watson in Yr 1 as he has cost us nothing. We could spend £50m on one player - who is on a 5 year deal. Because of PSR we spread that £50m over 5 years. Year 1 - Break even Year 2 - 5 Loose £10m PSR you are allowed to "lose" £35m a year so selling academy players for big bucks gives massive scope for investment and buying players on long contracts. Hence selling Rigg/Pattinson/Neil in future years would balance the books. Jobe we have have to deduct whatever we end up paying Birmingham from the transfer fee we get fro him. We may get more cash than Watson but Watson could be more valuable in terms of what we can spend in the market due to more profit on the deal.
That's the thing isn't it, think his parents are wary about either Jude or Jobe playing in the PL Almost better to play away from the limelight of the PL while still playing for top clubs The German league is perfect for Jobe to develop imo I'd be gutted if he left and I would have liked to see him have a crack at the league but him and his family are doing what they feel is best for his career
Think the Bellingham family do not want media spotlight on the boys that would come from being in the Premier League.
That’s it. for me it’s not an easy role to stand out in because he does a lot of dirty work so if we’re getting beat a lot he’ll look like a passenger good luck to the lad
That’s what I said Henderson like. He’s tall, physically strong and good defensively and experienced. We need that type.
Jobe will still get us more profit. Bigger fee and his initial fee was still pretty low (plus he did two years here). It’s the big fees, short contracts and quick turnarounds that hurt you on PSR. But nothing hurts more than a big money flop.
Before he makes any decision let’s get him in a room and see if there’s anyway he’d give us one more season. He clearly feels something special here and one more season won’t impact his career. He will still get these moves next summer. He’s only 19 and he’s only been here two years. Give it one more year jobe lad.
