I too hope we can keep a few players ,perhaps on renewed contracts and perhaps get more of we stay up and sell for higher fees. Appreciate there is a risk but isn't,t everything.
Especially on top of the Watson and the promotion money. Especially when you look at squad values of rest of the league even Leeds and Burnley were 10 times more than ours! So in theory we should be fine to spend the majority of the cash without worrying about financial fair play or whatever it's called as a result? I know it's not how the clubs run and some of it might go on improving other things. Going to be a long summer for this transfer thread, I might just stay away for a few weeks
Got it totally wrong about jobe last season mind, just wasn’t convinced but he’s shown I know **** all this season. Be gutted to lose him mind but felt it was inevitable, and I think these teams would probably take him even if we were established. All the best!
Shame that. I know the deal has been on the cards for months, but part of me hoped promotion would see him stay. Will be a huge miss imho. I dont think it will be easy to get a player as good in.
I honestly think that's why Jobe and his family see the move now as best for his career. Playing in a side that is highly likely to struggle next season, not see much of the ball and take a lot of defeats will be seen by his family as not good for his development, confidence etc. Whereas a team like Dortmund who are on the other end of the spectrum is ideal and will allow him to grow still at a good pace and have players around him who are able to carry him when he's not on it. And for them BVB is tried and true with Jude. He's been quality for us this year and always gave 100% I'm pleased I was allowed the opportunity to watch him in his early career and look forward to the days when the Bellingham's are bossing the pitch for England.
Great post mate. I think if it was down to being happy at SAFC he would be here for the long haul, but he can't be sentimental in the same way the club can't this summer. Right now he has the chance to go and okay at the next level to where we will be even without promotion. Also seems like the whole thing has been done very professionally and respectfully by the clubs coming and Jobe. All talk was out on hold until after the final so that could be his priority. Honestly gutted to see him go as I think he is class but I think he will flourish and be moving on again in 2 or 3 seasons and be at a club of the top level next!
Mads Hermansen Lewis Ferguson Dilane Bakwa Harwood-Belis. There’s a starting list Of we do lose Jobe to Dortmund (my feeling is he does a year PL with us) we could ask for Duranville or Reyna as part of the deal.
I’m just honoured we played a part in Jobe’s journey, all whilst getting promoted to the premier league and the £220m that comes with it, notwithstanding £20m or so of profit. good deal all round
£100m doesn't go very far if you're in control of the budget Reyna will be available from Dortmund this summer. I doubt we're the right move for him though, but he would be an ambitious rebuild. More troubles than most players we sign but greater upside. Let's not forget that he's a mackem from birth too.
The sale of Watson and Jobe would generate substantial trading profits for the club which has a big impact on PSR and room to accelerate investment in the team in year 1. Which makes sense to bring in further investment now rather than later. Would expect to see long length contracts for players coming in to spread transfer fees over a long period to help comply with PSR rules as well.
This is the thought process we have to take. Jobe will go to levels we realistically can’t and like Henderson we just need to watch with pride when he does. I just really hope to see him in our shirt with Lions on the sleeves first. The one I’m scared about is Mayenda. Surely the whole world has eyes on him. He could become a top world player the kid. Spain u21 makes him so visible as well. We will be fighting off bids for him this summer there’s no question.
Aye the laugh was as I know not plausible. That said none of those are impossible. We’ve spent £23million on Enzo already so if it’s £100 million we already balls deep. We have the Jack and Tommy money too though I think we can spend £150mill or so realistically. Ferguson likely goes a top top club, he’s Juve linked at minute.
Speaking of Henderson - if we can get his experience of this league and leadership relatively cheaply then we should absolutely do so. Looking at the size of the task ahead and the number of players we need to sign, having someone like him in our squad who wouldn't break the bank in terms of transfer fee, would be a positive start.
Yeah what he’d bring off the park be massive. Not sure how much he could contribute on field now but I’d absolutely support it.
I think £100-£150m on top of Enzo (and factoring in Jobe) is right. I hope we don't try and spread it too thin. 5-7 players who can compete is what I'd want. The players you suggested were top mind. I was thinking of Harwood-Bellis myself but Southampton paid £23m for him last year so that would be the starting price.
At this moment in time, I'd still expect him to be better than everyone but Le Feè (and Jobe). He's played for and captained Ajax for most of this season. He's still got a lot to offer.
Aye I think we’d have to pay about that for him, I’d take Walker Peters as well. I know that’s 3 from relegated teams but that doesn’t mean ****. I’d take a couple of Ipswich as well, Hutchinson and Davies. Not suggesting we will go for these just saying I’d take them.
