Bajcetic had a very successful loan spell in Spain. Be interesting what interest he gets over there - would like him to come back as cover for Grav as he seems ready made for that DM role as a ball playing 6 on the turn making interceptions rather than the destroyer that Endo is. That seems to suit Slot but have a feeling will prob be sold.

Would hope at least £10-15m plus some future sell on clause if possible.

The important thing here as these options come to mind is thst as you outline these you find a set of players that slot will.never use.

Slots bench will probably look.like this.

Marmadashvili, Bradley, Robertson, quansah, Jones, Jota, diaz

Then you stsrt to wonder who will pay for this.

Elliott for 40mil. Slot doesn't like him much.
Endo. Slot only uses him as a finisher.
Morton. Forgotten by all.10?
Doak. Former hot property no end product. 20-30?
Nunez. Clearly going. That's another 50mil
Kelleher. Time to go 15 surely.

I'm up to 150 there just listing. We've covered frimpong. Wirtz and kerkez.

There's two aspects.

Psr restraint over 3 years
Real money in the real world affordability.

We can balance this big season with another of zero spend next season for example.

If you look at selling doak we bought for 500k.theres years of amortisation on thst. If we make 30 on him it's pure profit this season.

Same for Elliott at 4.5mil fee years ago which should be amortised. Pure profit.

There's 3 years of nunez fee amortised at least? That is leaving 20? On the books so you see a book profit of 30 but a real world 50mil cash pile.

The question over time to be asked is what is the annual amortisation bill over 5 years. The figure has been steadily increasing over the past years and sits now at about 114 million.

These things are impacted by contract extensions (the remaining player book value is spend out of Liverpool the new term) signings and players leaving

The real question is not will we meet psr but can we write down that higher amortisation number over time from revenues.

We can assume two things

A) we can afford the fees by selling
B) we will meet psr requirements

What we don't know is how we can keep affording this increase over time.

An example of this is say konate.

35mil fee is around right but convenient for me.

Year 1,2,3 and 4 amortisation 7mil leaves 7mil this season.

We give him a new 5 year deal.

The number drops from 7 next year down to 1.4 but we add 1.4 per year for 4 more years which is great value for a good player rather than paying for a new one.

I'd be looking to what can reduce the amortisation bill by selling off nunez and Diaz types as well as move hg.

Hg is a single year profit. It is only helping Chelsea in the very short term and they eventually going to run it into the groudnas the assets run out.

In the real world we can sell to buy.
In the psr world we need revenues to cover the bill over 5 years.

 

Yeah, we need an option here. Preseason will tell a lot about bajcetic.

I don't think bajcetic suits slot's particular Dutch type of player in there.

Bajcetic will have to adapt to suit slot and do it quickly

But in the end he could be another profitable sale.

 

FSG can sell equity to raise funds. We know they’ve been looking. Who’s to say they haven’t found it.

Think it’ll be Wirtz in a false 9 type role coming deep with gakpo Salah wider. Him and szobo almost are two 10s in that aspect. Lots of talk in the Brighton game could see chiesa coming a lot deeper in that 9 role with full backs pushed on and grab dropping into back 3. Would seem to make sense with Frimpong and kerkez (especially Frimpong & Bradley being so different to TAA) so they keep the width, grav adds the solid and then you still have 3 in the midfield with mac szobo wirtz in theory.

Be interesting if similar tactic is used tomorrow as would signify we are looking at that style rather than a proper 9.

also gakpo has exclusively played left under slot and he sees him as a left winger so don’t see him ever being central for us as shown by Diaz being there during the season over him

 

how old is Alvarez now? Perhaps we can swap with Nunez?
