When McBurnie went head to head with Whatsisname Madeofglass and got him to react and in turn, get a red card, I thought, “What a ****house… I wish we had him!”
Perhaps he could say "we have had a poor season and the recruitment team is hard at work identifying players to strengthen the squad"? The way he speaks comes across he's the one identifying what he sees as the issues. This is how we end up with completely disjointed and unbalanced squads year after year with 10 central midfielders and a manager who bypasses the midfield.
Muslic is 1/2 on with online bookies, Riera is 1/1. Riera certainly fits the "out of left field" bill.
Yet with Mike White he said he couldn't talk about player recruitment until a coach is appointed. Then saying if he needs to buy 10 wingers to not have a midfielder on the wing in April he'll tell his guys to do that... Yeah.... He promises the world, all he's delivered so far is his own football manager dream and a footballing nightmare. Good to have a consistent message though eh?
Acun wants Lincoln back. As others have said, having an owner this heavily invested in signings, especially from a club that he’s on the board at, screams a conflict of interest and doesn’t bode well.
And Lincoln is average at best. I can honestly see us making loads of random signings and be back in the mix at the bottom. I want to be wrong, I just don't see us (him) learning.
Reminds me of one of the Q&As when Acun said ‘Dodo will be back’. Well, he wasn’t. Didn’t play a single minute all season. However, even if he was fit and available, it shouldn’t be for him to decide which players are given game time. The concerning thing about it is Acun talks about transfers like a kid in a sweet shop and gets into specifics about certain players and positions. It’s not his remit at all. That’s for the head coach and head of recruitment to decide. I can’t see anything changing significantly for the better and Acun ‘learning from his mistakes’ because I think deep down, he doesn’t think he’s making mistakes. He must think his way of doing things for the last three years is a good way to run a football club.
Bringing back Lincoln would be a really disappointing move, we already know he doesn't contribute enough and we've enough dead wood to shift as it is.
This is a red flag. Owners just shouldn’t be this personally invested and involved in recruitment and aren’t in a position to make these public statements.
fully agree and was just about to come post the same thing he's a complete no go as far as im concerned
I only saw Lincoln play once and he was pretty anonymous. There was always a lot of positive comments about him on here though, so he can’t have been that bad.
