Surely the Cairney decision would be the most obvious thing Bruce got wrong? Proschwitz? There isn't a manager in the game who hasn't got a transfer decision or 10 wrong though.
Reeve Carney. He managed to sing his way to hell and back si he should easily be able to sing his way to the top 6.
I don't even think Cairney was a mistake. We'd just signed Huddlestone and Livermore and he wasn't really playing enough even before that. He wouldn't have become the player he did without dropping down a level and playing regularly. I think he also wasn't the most committed player at that time but later knuckled down a bit. I remember Andy Dawson saying that about him once.
Saw a recent pod where it was suggested that prior to Fulham, managers had focussed on what he couldn't do, basically as opposed to building a team around him to compensate and letting him run the game. Think it was more to do with not seeing the potential and being wedded to a certain type of DM personally. Again, there isn't a manager in the game who hasn't with hindsight probably made a mistake.
I’m quite curious as to how Beale got as far as the interview stage. His record is absolutely dreadful.
Apparently his presentational skills are exceptional, but it doesn't bode well if he and Emre are an indicator of the waters we are fishing in.
S Some players are going to have to go, nobody isn't available if a good offer comes in. The aim is "value" whether it's someone coming in or going out
Something that's going under the radar a bit is that we have quite a few players who are 'overage' as of this coming season, which means they count towards the 25-man squad when they didn't previously. This means that even after releasing several players last week we're left with 30 senior players on the books for 25 places even before we sign anyone. We will have to get rid of a lot this summer.
