I think I've answered this in my previous post.

Nothing I have ever seen over the years will ever convince me that there is a single country in the world that makes decisions for ethical reasons.

I have plenty of time for people who argue that what Israel is currently doing is unethical. I might not agree with them, either in part or in full, but I am sufficiently unsettled by it (and by my hatred of Netanyahu) to respect that viewpoint as an ethical stance.

So to only act on that stance two to three months down the line strikes me as pointless posturing. That's all.

This didn't answer the questions. I asked what you would have liked the United Kingdom to have done following Oct 7. and in regards to the war in Ukraine.

For anyone on here to claim the UK hasn't backed Ukraine is beyond insane, the numbers speak for themselves and some even believe it has been far too much support, not pointless posturing. The UK is by and large one of the biggest donators to Ukraine across the board.

No one magically became "willing" the name is directly taken from the fact that the US was "unwilling" to have direct defense responsibilities in Ukraine anymore, so he got together countries that were in fact "willing" to do it.

No one magically took a willingness pill.

You're presenting a lot of bad faith arguments.

First this 3 months late argument really has no conclusion to it... did you want the UK to place sanctions on Israel over a year ago? I've never ever seen you present that argument on here...? If you have, I'd like to see it and I'll say fair enough.

Let's forget the ranting for a second as it's a lot to reply to, I'll instead ask you a straight forward question: Irrespective of the timescale, is the UK correct to place sanctions on Israel and stop trade negotiations?

To follow-up, should the UK go further and place more sanctions on Israel as soon as humanly possible?

A lot more expensive than Isreal Iron dome because you have to get far more jets in the air to shoot missiles down over a much bigger area.
Will probs have to call a few in from other countries like Israel had too.

    1) No as I believe that Israel's response to Oct 7th was entirely just. I also believe that its stated goals behind that response were entirely just and it was right to pursue them. I also believe that in the majority of cases, it pursued them in a manner that would minimise collateral damage to civilians as much as possible.

    2) I initially supported Israel's decision to resume the conflict three months ago, but as time has passed it has become clearer that Netanyahu hasn't got a clue what he is doing and is hell-bent on hanging on to power whatever the cost. The fact that the freedom of just one hostage has been secured in two months is damning. I don't trust Hamas one iota but I also don't think Netanyahu's various delegations to Doha etc. are actually being empowered to make progress.

    3) Let's see what the response is now from Israel. They'll probably just double down and carry on unless the USA says otherwise. Ultimately that is the only opinion that matters. If however the response is a positive one - which early signs seem to confirm with 100 aid trucks reportedly now inside Gaza and a deal with the UAE that will open up a new supply route for aid - there is no need at this stage to escalate this pressure. What I really want to see from the UK, France, Canada and other world powers is a much more serious and concerted effort to bring the two sides back to the table and find a lasting conclusion to this. Punitive approaches rarely ever work in this regard unless they really hurt - a couple of suspended trade deals and some sanctions won't.

    Totally agree.

With Labours history on antisemitism he should have given this one a wide berth. There’s a lot of support for Israel in this country. This could well blow up in his face further down the line.

Coalition of the willing is probably the most embarrassing thing they could have named themselves. The US, Russia and Israel must be laughing their cocks off about it. ‘Seen them irrelevant Europeans trying to be relevant’. - Lol fecking clowns.

Israel had a lot of support and goodwill, here and around the world. That’s mostly gone now. The prevailing sentiment currently seems to be **** those murdering bastards. Israel probably won’t care so long as the US still supports them uncritically, but how long will that last?

Incidentally, Lammy and Starmer both have Jewish wives. I wonder if both families were were sitting around the dinner table when the missus finally said “I can’t make excuses for Israel anymore, call the child murdering thugs out for what they are ”?

Have 7000 babies died now or do all 14000 die simultaneously when the timer hits 48 hours?
