Well **** Rohl (I genuinely didn't want him anyway) and it would appear that Still wasn't their first choice which probably means he's going to be better. Anyway 5th times a charm. Law of averages means they've got to get one right eventually. That's as positive as I can be about it.
Undeewhelmed but not sure if any of the altervatives were great. I think it is a massive risk we do not need to take. Fingers crossed it works out.
Wouldn't have been my first choice and feels a bigger risk than is needed but like this fact he's open to playing different styles and adapts. We've not had that for literally ****ing years and I said I didn't want a philosophy manager so can't complain too much. Cautiously optimistic is probably the best way of describing it for me I think. Really pleased we've got it done early too as that felt absolutely vital this Summer. If Rohl was stringing us along waiting for a better option then we were 100% right to move on imo.
I would have a good look into the videos, and take note of expert opinions on Will Still. He is coming with way more endorsements etc than RM came with last time we were relegated. Have a feeling we will let him build a team and a playing style over the coming years.
That is a ringing endorsement from a man who knows his French and European football. Agree with what he said about the myth of needing an experienced manager In the championship, as quoted about what the manager of Sunderland has done this season after being with Lorient in the French league for 2 years. And Will Still is way more thought of than he is.
Sporsy went to France To buy a Renault Megane Instead he found a redhead And said, "You're my f*cking man!"
EVERY new manager appointment is a risk. Some work some don’t. For example, Big Ange at Spurs, came from Celtic winning the league etc, attractive football, but apart from the Euro cup run, has been a disaster, just like Koeman, Silva, Fat Sam, Lampard to name a few, were at Everton over the years. But then you take unkowns like Herzeler at Brighton, Frank at Brentford, Iriola at Bournemouth, Poch at Southampton etc, they all turned out pretty good?
I'm with you. Just need to shake off the SR "Nathan Jones, Ruben Selles, Ivan Juric" memories before I am truly behind it.
Russ had experience of the Championship, but it was irrelevant. He cared not one jot about the opposition and insisted on sticking to his style. Still is far more adaptable it seems, and that already is a breath of fresh air. Also he doesn't micromanage like Russ. He's all about getting the ball as quickly as possible into the right areas and giving players the freedom to make their own choices. Maybe it will backfire, but so far I like what I hear.
I know one thing, if Will Still leads us to promotion next year, it will definitely be Ginger Wig Day on the last away game of the season.
