Beale has always been someone who talks a good game. But that’s it, that’s where it ends. Im not surprised he impressed at interview because he’s a snake oil salesman. Sacking Selles always seemed bonkers. Sacking him to replace him with Beale is absolutely mind blowing!
I imagine that interview went down like a Monty Python sketch where two snake oil salesmen try to sell each other their wares.
I agree, there isn't anyone there that woukd fit what I was asking for, namely a manager who has championship experience and who is allowed to build a team, as said in my original post.
Can't keep up with all the tosh being posted. Acun said before appointing Walter or Selles that as well as those pre planned manager options another 15 or 17 applied for the job. There will be no shortage of applicants so when hearing a name it won't be the only one, there's loads to choose from. Picking the right one is the problem.
Ffs you'd like to think that he just doesn't sit there and listen to their sales pitch, perhaps a little investigation to see what kind of job they've done at previous clubs would be a must before hiring ... or at least these so called brains team !
Apologies if this had already been posted but BC reckons Beale is unlikely to be offered the job. I hope to **** he’s right.
Picking the right one this time will be his biggest challenge since he took over? To me,(and it's only a personal opinion)this is **** or bust...
Genuine question for those who know more about it than I… How can you really impress or not impress at an interview for a Manager’s job? I know you’d need a professional discussion so both parties understand each others aims/thinking etc, but surely a decision on an appointment is much more based on history, given that is very much a known thing for managers, than how well they ‘perform’ at an interview? Or am I missing something? I must admit that I was once asked to interview for a cook where I worked and the HR person looked confused when I suggested we cut most of the interview questions so we could get them to actually cook something instead! That’s what we did though…I mean how can you choose a cook or manager just based on an interview? Cheers in advance for those about to enlighten me…
Well Acun just asks questions of them, then opens his draw gets his dice out and gives them a roll it seems . Or he keeps interviewing till one says yes, then says he was always our number one target, then smiles.
I would imagine he'd have been laying it on thick, dazzling Acun Danny Dyer style, with this supposed strong connections at Sao Paulo, Liverpool, Rangers... How we could then get access from the brightest and best from the favelas, or call on a favour from [insert football luminary] He probably had some sort of PowerPoint diagram showing he we could get promoted. Google, Apple, Coca Cola etc.
I thought Selles was a good choice myself. We all saw how bad we were after the international break. I know some on here liked lincoln, but i thought he was pretty average and wasnt sure why he picked him. Some strange decisions were made including playing Geldhart out wide. Having said that, who out of the guys he is looking at could have done much with that squad in the last few games. I'm not Acun out or anything like that, but I think he has contributed more than anyone else to our poor form. Granted we've had some ****e luck and dreadful refereeing but I really don't think it was time to point the finger at Selles
