There are public safety issues to manage in relation to immigration and probably need to limit numbers because vulnerability is expensive. Other than that the migration thing is just an odd obsession. Just tax the uber rich and make things easier for everyday people. If migration comes down we’ll all still be struggling because the owners of our assets have put the price up.

Starmer is at least stable, not like the numpties in the last round, he’ll get better because he isn’t ideological. He needs to grow some knackers and tackle wealth inequality though. He’s fallen in with the wrong friends on that front.

More accurate to say that this version hurts us less tbh. Still, I'll take what I can get:emoticon-0102-bigsm

The problem is, parties can't get elected unless they befriend the 'wrong' people (media, corporations, etc). A vicious circle that bakes inequality into the system.

    Tories... Starmer has sunk Britain

5 key tests all surrendered or broken. Labour have capitulated. When Labour negotiates Britain loses.

Fully agree with this. Political parties need strong financial rules or democracy fails.

I’m pleased young people may be able to travel, work and study more easily in Europe …

… this island mentality is killing us in my opinion.

Liberal Democrats saying Starmer should have gone further... Starmer to sell his deal to the House of Commons later today...

    I think he's playing a blinder...

It’s quite funny seeing Kemi stamp her feet and saying what should’ve happened …

… when you’re Southampton you shouldn’t really be telling Leeds Utd what to do <laugh>

It is now as it reaps its' ever agonising pain. For "mentality",substitute "reality",and then preface island with "small".

Just watched some of the exchanges in The HoC. Starmer on top form, Badenoch completely lost. Surely she can't last much longer?

Don't believe that for a minute. Many had a strong mentality island before the Brexit vote, knowing what unfettered immigration was heaping on our completely unprepared resources,as has been exemplified.

I agree that large scale immigration is causing a lot of issues with various public services creaking at the seams. We’ve got to find ways (and money) to bolster them, improve efficiency and reduce waste/duplication.

Edit - how to reduce immigration is also the big question. That's like Churchill's description of Russia, to me. A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.

It's staggering that people want to go back to the 'glory days' of the British Empire ...

... the rich were richer and the working man was just cannon fodder in the forces, the mines, the factories, etc.

Boris Johnson even wanted us to go back to Imperial measures ffs ... no wonder the Chinese and Indians are leaving us standing.

I see the myth of the tories (including the buffoon) being pro-brexit was exposed on Politics Live this lunchtime. Time to negotiate some trade deals after 5 years of whingeing...

The reports I heard are that the shell fish traders and salmon fisherman are over the moon with the plans
