Some great takes from Arsenal Twitter saying Arteta is actually a genius because Liverpool, who have been on the piss for two weeks and won the title at canter, can’t match Arsenal’s points total from last season. Odd fan base.
Im sure the scousers will be crying during their open top bus parade about that. They really are odd. Arteta with his "we won 2 premier leagues" due to their points totals, take was so ****ing weird and irrelevant, guy is going mad
Bring it on ... perhaps they'll manage a draw this time ... although I doubt it - anyone spot the obvious flaw in the PL bringing charges when we were not a Premier League club ... reckon they must have HIAG's old law firm advising ....
Would also add that our spending etc is peanuts compared to what Foresr, Villa, Brighton, Ipswich, Everton and Newcastle have spent ... Thankfully we have Nick Di Marco ...
Didn't the tribunal which cleared you last time rule that they could have jurisdiction over EFL clubs? Your losses are a lot higher too though.
Peanuts... Since you got relegated last time your net transfer spend has been around 55m and ours has been around 70m. Baring in mind we were in the Prem and Champions League in that time I'd hardly suggest we are world's apart. We are a trendy name for people to throw around for discussions like this but we simply aren't operating in the way people like to suggest. We've made a profit on transfers since the end of the 2023 summer and are in a position to spend plenty this summer as a result. No doubt the numerous fans who haven't noticed that we've not signed a new first team player for 2 years will complain again this summer about Newcastle buying anyone.
We'll sell Hermandsen, Soumare, Faes, Daka, Ndidi and Kristiansen in the summer plus (hopefully) either sell or cancel contracts of Vestergaard and Winks - that with Ward and Vardy out of contract might even make us profitable (which is plain daft) ... Hopefully we can keep El Khanouss but if not will also sell on for a profit ... Obviously the PL / EFL didn't like us pulling their pants down ... but will be no surprise to me if we do it again ...
I would expect no less. As regards PSR its the promoted teams who I feel it shafts the most. The idea that teams like Leicester (and hopefully Sunderland) are meant to just magically adapt to a league without investing hugely is a pipe dream. This season the teams you needed to finish above to avoid relegation were Man Utd, Tottenham or West Ham. Their benches are probably worth more than the first team (or even squad) of some of the teams fighting for promotion. I don't think 35m a season allowable losses comes remotely close to covering that.
To give it some perspective, I think Anthony (currently surplus to need) possibly cost United more than our entire starting XI against Ipswich at the weekend... yet the PL / EFL are pursuing us for our 'unfair' practices... which have absolutely **** all to do with our 'sustainability' ... There is no level playing field ... the 'system' works overtime to inhibit challenge to the established order ... thank **** that Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth are currently thumbing their noses at the PL's intentions ...
Yeah you’re right. I reckon one substitute for Man U or Spurs probably cost more than we paid for our full squad. Even Leeds spent more on agent fees than we did on transfer fees, this season. That would be a hell of a gap to close if we were to go up. Too big of a gap if we are being realistic, unless we just take the future hit for points and chuck loads of money at it. Not our way though, unfortunately.
