If we have an agreement with Jobe previously for around that price range then it doesn't really matter, we will honour it
I'm not against this sort of thing in the sense we'll let you go if you outgrow the club, I think its a good look for us and gives us an advantage to attract quality young talent. But a 'gentleman agreement' would be really daft to implement in relation to fees imo. So many variables in football over a season, which could increase a players fee significantly where any agreed fee a year prior becomes pretty irrelevant. I'm sure we'll do right by Jobe, I dont foresee any problems there, but we cant give discounted prices because we like the lad or whatever. For clubs like us, it isnt easy to get players to command club changing income. We cant let those opportunities pass by being 'nice' if that makes sense.
25-30m. With the same numbers as a percentage for a future sell-on fee, would be very good business, for Jobe.
I keep coming back to the thought that if we hold onto him for a Premier League season he could be worth £50m. he's unlikely to go down in value. I imagine that scene in the social network where Justin Timberlake's character says "yeah, a million dollars is cool, but do you know what's cooler? A billion dollars". I feel there's a time to cash in on a player. And if we don't win the playoff final, that time is definitely now. But if we do win the playoff final, I think his value is only going to skyrocket. That said, it seems we mostly were able to recruit him due to relationships and trust, and if part of that agreement was that we'd do what's best by him, and his parents don't want him in the PL, then I can absolutely see why we'd sell now and thank him for his service and a good deal for the club.
Honestly don't think there's anybody there that I'd take, in either division. Maybe Daniel Iversen and Tariq Lamptey.
A certain De Bruyne would be ****e, wouldn’t he? Nah I know what you mean in terms of being realistic.
Actually I've noticed Idrissa Gueye there. He'd likely be on asronomical wages but if we're in the Prem I wouldn't say no to him.
It depends if a price was mentioned or we would let him go for a reasonable fee when the time was right. I agree with @Southern A he will be worth double if not more with a decent season in the Premier league should we be promoted. If we are I hope he stays as it will be nice to not have to replace him and it will bring in a higher fee eventually!
Agree with all this, and my personal opinion is that what you have said at the bottom, I think that new deal he signed might have had these incentives in place for him to sign it
Going by that report they seem to have our price tag "BVB don’t feel they are in pole position but still pushing hard. Price tag: €25-30m."
Of course hypothetically, we may have just agreed that we'd sell him at the time the parents want him to move. We might not have agreed what the fee should be. It might just be verbally we've said we'll sell at the right time. But I can't see a reason why they wouldn't allow us to hold out for the right fee if there are multiple interested bidders he'd be happy joining. I can see him going somewhere like Frankfurt or Leverkusen rather than Dortmund. Take a similar path as Jude - Championship --> Bundesliga, but in his own way.
Seems that Leeds want Sagnan too, interesting that it seems we want him regardless of league, hope it's the start of us getting proper depth at the back
Still think Lamptey has huge potential. Surprised about the cat kicker, he’s a top player on his day. Ben Mee would be perfect for us if we were to go up for his experience and no nonsense approach.
Yeah I wouldn't be shocked if it was. I do like the idea of us shopping more in the french market though, wonder if we revisit Stassin now St-Ettiene have gone down
