A countdown appears on the screen. The announcement is about to be made. And then, in true Wrestlemania style, when it hits zero… “YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME” BAH GAWD IT’S BRUCE!
I fear that Muslic is another case of the Emperors new clothes. There’s a lot of noise about about him but his past track record doesn’t really stand out. Plymouth took an absolute punt on him and he gave a fantastic speech to his squad that went viral. He definitely improved them post Rooney, but in a similar vein to Derby and Luton he was an advocate of going route one. Within his tenure, there had been unrest among Plymouth fans, talking about playing some of the worst football they had seen. The turn of results eventually quietened them. I thought the Selles sacking was incredibly harsh but if you’re going to do it, you need to get an obvious upgrade. I’m not sure Muslic is that.
Strasbourg ultimately threw it away in their last 2 games. Finishing 7th is definitely an uptick in their league position over their recent history. They have also scored the most goals from open play in a season since returning to League 1, 8 seasons ago. He’s been an obvious success for them but the failure to make Europe will be.a bitter blow from the position they were in - with a win in their last game they still had a chance of making the Champions League. They led with 20 minutes to go and conceded the losing goal in the 90+9 minute.
So it's not gonna be the dafty raysist. Fair enough. We move on - we look at replacing the bloke who didn't get relegated from the Championship with the bloke who did get relegated from the Championship. That makes sense. I love a coherent plan, me.
So just to clarify, at Christmas/ January for 2 seasons on the trot he managed teams in a play off position/ European position, strengthened both teams and by the end of the season failed to achieve the target/ goals
