I dunno, he seems to have a soft spot for Arsenal. But yeah, he does seem to have it in for us in general - I guess Utd and City are just the most obvious targets atm.

Wasn't your way of thinking that we were only winning cos we were lucky and our luck was soon going to run out? I fail to see how a career threatening injury to our best player counts as our luck running out!

I reckon they'll announce that they've found something around the correct energy level and that they're going to spend the next year or so trying to prove whether or not it is the Higgs. Still too early to tell what they've actually found, in anything.

Maybe the more English players you have, the worse you get it. Since Arsenal have 0 English players (they do have one English guy who sprints aimlessly down the wing, though) he'll love them.

It wasn't so much to do with Vidic, but to do with your sguad strength. People like Rufflad were bemoaning your players after the Basle game and even you were saying that you didn't think you had a chance of winning the league this season. My point was that this was not going to be the same as in previous years, when you've played badly and then turned it on in the 2nd half of the season. You had a decent win against a cery shoddy Wolves side on Saturday (good goals too), but I think you will struggle this time out.

You're probably right about the thing on Tuesday, but there does seem to be some furore over it, certain ly for there to be a studio discussion on Newsnight about it. We shall see.....................

Well, like I said before we haven't done all that badly given we're missing three senior defenders, two first choice mids and three senior strikers, not to mention all the other players who have had injuries at various points this season. And yet on our current "terrible" form we are on track to finish the season with 91 points (which would be our joint highest ever total in a 38 game PL), having played all our major rivals. I wonder if City would still be so far ahead if they were missing Kompany, Richards, Zabaleta, Milner, Barry, Dzeko and Balotelli?

I personally don't reckon we have a chance of winning the league, but that is more due to a pretty horrendous set of injuries and losing Vidic for the rest of the season. The injuries to our defence have been particularly bad - Phil Jones is our only defender not to have been injured at some point this season - which was always going to be critical this season what with the new keeper. In fact, I think Nani, Jones, Giggs, Park and Carrick are our only first team outfield players not to have been injured at all this season, which out of a squad of 22 outfield players is pretty spectacular!

Just read a BBC news article article on the announcement tomorrow. Looks like you're right. The 'word on the street' is that both the Atlas and CMS detectors have detected a 'spike' at 125 GeV, which is an area where the Higgs is theorised to be. However it's 2 or 2.5 sigma at best, so a discovery will not be announced. That needs to be 5 sigma certainty. The quest continues..............................

Five sigma? Damn scientists and their shortcuts - us business types work to six sigma ;)

Either way, they're gonna need a heck of a lot more data to prove anything - I read somewhere that whilst the initial announcement will be pretty big they will still need another year or so of data before they can draw any conclusions.

Does your LHC theory include anything about City losing the day before big discoveries are announced? ;)

Sorry Swarbs, that's negatory (Dukes of Hazzard <doh>). There's nothing in the theory to support that hypothesis. Win for citeh (I hope <ok>)

Ah dammit. Bluff, any chance of you supporting City for a day and watching the match tonight? ;)

Why do you want a win for City, Red? Just so they stay way ahead of us, or do you reckon overhauling the Chaveroos is now your best chance for 4th spot?

I will be watching actually haha. I think Chelsea can do it, but mind you it needs to be the Chelsea that played against Valencia and not the **** they were playing before. But....... I would rather City win as it keeps Chelsea close to us and a chance to pull them down into 5/6.

That's true, if Chelsea lose they will be in a dangerous position what with City, Utd, Spurs and Arsenal all being on strong runs of form (in terms of results) at the moment. If Chelsea do lose the game, and lose it quite badly, then there is a pretty good chance that the current top four might still be the top four come the end of the season. Which would be pretty catastrophic for Chelsea given that next year is an FFP season...

Ahh so you don't think we will be in the mix!! The battle for those top spots will be crazy at the end of the season I believe. I think it might come down to a point or two with the teams missing out looking back at results with " what if we had beaten/drawn ____" . I just hope it is not us but at the moment, it does look like us.

I need City to win for FF too! :)

I am amazed that Abrom has not pulled out of Chelsea yet. He just keeps loading money in and I feel he doesn't get much back!
