    Indeed, it's quite refreshing in that I'm completely resigned to losing the game so I can just enjoy it a little more and see how our fringe players are coming on.

    We did play a diamond with him and Cabaye a few times in pre season. Could work as he tracks back far more than Ben Arfa in that position:

    Pardew said the three players in contention to play CM were Smith (defensive), Gosling (central) and Vuckic (attacking). Depends how we want to play.
