"He was always enthusiastic about the game and a perfect gentleman as well: he hasn't changed, he's still got that enthusiasm."-I think this basically sums up Nigel Adkins great manager and great person.
Good article. However I have a gripe. The Guardian appears to be the latest in a long line of media outlets to have not done their homework win it comes to our home record. Yes we are indeed on a 21 match winning streak at home, but only 19 of these were in the league. Two of them were cup games!! So why are they all treating it likes it's 21 league games, and comparing to other league-only records? Not only are the runs by the likes of Liverpool, Rotherham and BPA - all mentioned in the article - all league-only, but with regards to us the article clearly says "with 10 of those home victories achieved this season". Well hang on a minute, I think you'll find that actually 12 of these 21 games are this season - because two of them are cup games! Yes it's perfectly correct to point out that we have won 10 straight home league games this season (and they can compared to the records of Liverpool, BPA etc), but if you're talking about this whole 21 game run - which the article is - then it's basically irrelevant. You can't leave the cup games out, because it wouldn't be 21 any more. How hard is it for the media to work out that there are two cup games in this 21 game run?!!!!!
The most interesting part of that article was where they stated that he won't be dictated to or told how to play the game..puts to bed the idea that he only gets on with Cortese because he's a yes man. Think they get on because they have the same plans for the club, but both have clearly defined roles to achieve that. Good read, but mustn't get too hung up on records. If the home run goes (which it must) there is no problem if we just pick up where we leave off.
Very good read . Thanks for posting link Slight concern about him basically going onto bigger and better things , hopefully he can get all that here given time !!!!!
This atricle might be of interest to some. It looks at the rise of our Nige. Don't like the bit where former player says that he could go higher. What than Saints http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/dec/09/nigel-adkins-therapy-southampton

Whoops. Missed this. Mods have merged my post with original it would seem. Fair enough. I blame the slight hangover!
