Didn't most say going into that game that they'd be happy to keep Selles if we were in League One as he knows the league and should get the chance?
Physically assaults male club staff and verbally assaults female club staff. Nice. Our players, who couldn’t stand Walter’s personality, will surely love this charmer. Or we could hire Belözoğlu to call Kamara racial slurs if he gets frustrated with him. One Family, One Dream.
Well he has had 4 goes at it to date. What makes you, i or anyone think he can get it right this time?
I have kept skimming this thread off and on. I do not have the stamina, nah, truthfully, I cant be arsed to trawl back 87 pages, to check if your very pertinent question has been asked before. The answer, quite worryingly, is a resounding Nobody. If this carries on we are going to make Watford look like model, loyal, employers.
tigerscave will be a clapping seal when the new manager arrives then within about 3 months will be saying how woeful he is ad nauseam
cept i think sacking last two managers was stupid except walter cos he was **** i dont know why acun and his followers think yet another manager will somehow turn water into wine
IMHO Yes it would have been a failure, his goal when hired was to keep us up. However, if we'd have gone down on 49 points on goal difference then I'd have given him the same chance Grant had to bring us back up next season. Not because I think he's amazing but because I think he's competent. I think a competent coach + stability + long term squad building = success. Or more success than building everything from scratch every 6 months.
Baz has said Arda Turan and Emre Belözoğlu have been on Acun’s shortlist before. Turan’s antics are bad enough but Belözoğlu would be a vile appointment. It’s vile he’s even been considered before.
The trouble is, the owner wants instant success (even when he says he doesn’t) and keeps rolling the dice in an attempt to make it happen. Either he’ll get lucky at some point or throw the towel in if it doesn’t happen soon.
I genuinely think you are more likely to go down with that approach. Its definitely possible but you need a huge element of luck to get promoted that way,
Wasn't massively impressed with Selles tbh and was especially disappointed to miss out on Robins or Alex Neil at the time (I think they were both available - AN was for sure). But its absolutely clear that the manager was not the main issue here and that the problems lie with the owner, which will not go away no matter who we appoint.
I think going down, if not inevitable, is looking more and more likely. The financial situation is not great but at least not critical since the sale of Greaves and Philo, the playing side is really poor though - we are going to have to hope that the injured/banned players turn out to be as good as they are in our imagination and the leadership is a mess. Altogether I don't think the Hull job seems a particularly attractive proposition.
