    Tomorrows Ref Paul Tierney

60 yellows and 8 reds in 17 games. Odds on one side finishing with 10 men :)

9/8, so practically evens, and a bookmaker would probably make it 5/6 to give themselves a profit margin.

I don't see where the cynicism about McLean's bookings is coming from, at least two of them should have been red cards. Unless I misread a comment the other day he said as much about one, and another he did a Mills by making a clean tackle and committing a foul afterwards. In McLean's case it was an attempt to 'stamp' through the other player's knee.

FFS do we have to have a referee? Specially a power happy one, were better off with none at all.

He does seem to get some very stupid bookings, usually on the grounds that he puts a lot of effort in and he shows the determination in his face and the way he runs, refs don't like it so they always give decisions against players like that. The ones he got against Watford and Derby were particularly ridiculous.

We need to be careful with this one, if we lose Chester and Rosenior for the same game (I've heard they're both on 4 yellows) we're ****ed.

Wasn't the Derby one the one where he was so late for the ball it was described as an attempt to bend the player into the corner of the net with the commentaters unable to stop laughing at how poorly timed his attempt to have a shot had been?

Was the Watford one for the tackle in the North half of the pitch in front of the East Stand or am I confusing home games? That's the one I'd have sent him off for. The initial tackle was clean, but there was a definite stamping action at the other player's knee afterwards, and there's no "it was momentum" about it. A Leicester fan has more chance of convincing me Mills trip on McLean was accidental than anybody has of convincing me McLean shouldn't have been booked for that one.

We would have been at Dunfermline today. First game I was going to get to this season, I turned up 10 minutes before kickoff to collect my free ticket and got told the match was cancelled because of the fog. Alright if you can't see from the half way line to the goals you have to postpone the game, but this is what it looked like at the time:

    Fog? More like cataracts.

Those were indeed the incidents I'm talking about. The Derby one was as you say, a shot. A yellow card should be for someone doing something dangerous or blatant cheating. If people start getting booked for mistiming shots then it's getting ridiculous. The Watford one was the best tackle of the game, I didn't see the stamp you talk of though.

With the Derby one I can't really remember seeing it properly, but whether you book people for mistiming shots really depends how mistimed they are, otherwise you're saying that so long as you make it look like you were shooting you can absolutely smash your boot through someone's leg and not get booked for it.

Watford he slid in with his one leg on the ground and the other leg pulled up on top of it so his foot was about where his other knee was. He made the tackle, which as you say was very good. Then after the ball had gone his other foot shot out towards the other player's knee, same action as if you were stood up stamping, but obviously whilst he was laid down. I think most people missed it following the ball, I only saw it because even following the ball it was in my line of sight.

Listened on Tigersplayer and sounded like the ref had a good game - no sign of him being card happy. Right result anyway!! UTT
