    Used in The Shining, Shutter Island and many other films. Glorious composer.

    I'm not going to get into an argument about musical tastes, BUT Pete Doherty is not a genius. He's a ****ed up waste of space.

    Yeah the word genius gets used way too easily. I know it's all hyperbole and on a forum but you're spot on in your first sentence there. Whether or not you like the guy's music there is surely no way on this planet anybody could call him a 'genius' and seriously mean it.

    Loved listening to this as a kid. Recently remembered them. Sky doing Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor;

    Very nice <ok> Thankyou :)

    But led me on to listen to their track "The Song of McGillicudie the Pusillanimous" ... not so good! <laugh>

    <laugh> haha, yeah Egg are a strange band, loads of their tracks are just garbled weirdness and strange 'singing' (if you can call it that!) and the weirdest part is that in between random nonsensical pieces they'll stick a sort of bizarre and yet enjoyable track in like this:

    Probably my favorite band as a kid. The legendary Big Black.

    Yeah that was quite good. His vocal style reminded me a bit of Gerard Langley of the The Blue Aeroplanes. He delivers his lyrics like a sort of poetry recital

    Good post! I was sure I'd heard these guys before so I had a bit of a look and it turns out I have 1986's 'Tolerance'. You a big fan of them? Would you recommend I look for more?

    Definitely! Very big fan of theirs. Arguably their best two albums are Swagger (which Jacket Hangs is taken from) and the follow up album Beatsongs. Both are classic albums without a duff track. Released 1990 and 1991. Their earlier stuff (like Tolerance) and the later stuff (they are still going today) are a bit more hit and miss but i'd recommend those two albums. In my opinion if you don't like those two you probably won't like any of their others too much.
