I wont put him in the top 10 current drivers My top 10 in order of skill and good driving 1 - Alonso 2 - Kubica 3 - Vettel 4 - Schumacher 5 - Rosberg 6 - Webber 7 - Kobayashi 8 - Hedfeild 9 - Hamilton 10 - Sutil
He is not as good as made out to be but, my opinion is that any guy who can sit in a 300bhp car and drive it to around the 210-220mph mark is good, he can prove himself at times, he has the brains (Australia 2010) and the balls (Brazil 2009) to be the best, although he was savaged many times by Michael, (Spain 2010) and (Korea 2010).
brains in Australia? he destroyed his tyres and had to come in, he had no choice. He aint gonna be able to pull off that type of stunt with these tyres
Jenson is good with tyres, idiot, it's a known fact he is less aggressive but more gentle with the tyres... when others fail with tyres he succeeds. And don't snap at me, calm down. Every post does not need to turn into an argument whether you are Lewis or not, I was only giving my opinion.
This might not be a popular theory but it is possible that Button is better than Alonso Button is calmer more intelligent and doesn't get emotional Last year he overtook Alonso a few times, in Abu Dhabi Button overtook him even though the Ferrari was faster. This ofcourse lead to Alonso throwing away the title Alonso might have one more title but this was won in a car that was illegal for most of the season whereas Buttons Brawn was legit Also button has never ever required team orders or throw tantrums I think this season with the unpredictable tyres button will show that he has more class than alonso
I agree with those as groups of skill. Kubica maybe needs a top car to help us decide maybe. I couldn't really separate Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel at the moment though.
If the Mclaren is as good as or even better than last year, he will be the man to beat I think, mainly because of his tyre skills. Oh yeah, and where have these WUMs come from?
He really isn't. Hopefully his tyre management will bring him into contention this season though, despite his lack of pace.
JENSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha, the supporter in me wants to say hes the best, however I accept hes not the best qualifier. TBH, anyone who wins a world championship, irrelevant of the car considering the RBR spend most of the season better than the brawn, is a skilled driver.
what tyres skills? lol1 You people are like sheep and just say the same tnhing, he has no tyres skills. He destroyed his tryes in canada, Australia and had to pit early. Ruined them in Turkey. Its a myth that he has good tyre management. You would see him struggle this year. Alonso is the one that has the best tyre management skills
Just so you know most drivers were destroying their tyres at Montreal. That track has a high tyre degradation rate, and in recent years they have had to re surface the track to help stop that. And I don't know what Australian GP you were watching, he pitted in and made one of the most crucial decisions ever in F1. He is the best at tyre management, so I don't know what F1 your watching at all to be honest. In China, he used the same set of tyres for the whole race, they worn down to slicks when a dry line appeared and he was set for the rest of the race. And what Turkish GP are you talking about? His tyres couldn't have been destroyed, he was racing against Hamilton for most of the rest of the race after the Webber/Vettel accident
Im interested as to your reasoning for these 5? JB is somewhere between 4th and the 6th best driver on the grid IMO. depending on how Kubica and Rosberg compare to better teammates.
Its probably pointless arguing that point, but you're absolutely correct. Button was the smoothest on his tyres. He made the right call in Australia, when he felt his tyres going away from him, and it won him the race. Canada everyone struggled, including this guys beloved Alonso, who I still laugh at getting caught napping by JB. If we're looking back as well, in 2009 he won races where Rubens was the favoured strategy by keeping his tyres in a better condition than everyone else, in 2006 he kept the inters in better shape than anyone else at Hungary and won the race... could go on to be fair.
