For all the good Amorim has done for you, or lack thereof, you may aswell have kept ETH until the end of the season then got Amorim this summer, as was originally planned I think. Lets face it, I dont think ETH will have done worse than this ffs.
You read too much social media! Of course they do. They just won't throw silly money at wages to any big name, like the previous lot did. It'll be level and formation appropriate, not completely random.
Liverpool chose Slot because he plays the same way as Klopp did, and Klopp's players had been bought to play the way Klopp plays. Square peg into a square hole. It is roundly accepted and often stated that United had no system, no defined style. It is roundly accepted and stated, that the players bought fitted no system or style, that they were random big names with high wages thrown at them. Or do you no longer think this is the case? Are you now stating that we did have a defined style all along, and all those players had been carefully purchased to fit into a certain style of play? Because I personally don't know what the **** that was, I must have missed that bit. If this is the case, and I missed the creative defined style that we'd been playing so unsuccessfully this last decade, then yeah, Amorim is the wrong man because he doesn't fit that style, whatever the **** it was. The actual truth is this - previous managers bought ****e players to fit into no pattern whatsoever and now Amorim and the new board need to go about replacing them.
Silly and petty comment there about social media. To the issue of performance - None of the previous managers would have done this poorly. Evidently all of them did far better in league games, including ETH. This is not even a position that is subject to debate as you’re effectively defending what is indefensible. Even Amorim knows he is failing himself. No need for useless social media validation.
You claim to know so much about football and go on making that kind of claim. For starters, and without going into crazy analysis, it is clear that Slot plays a more controlled tempo type of football compared to Klopp’s gengen high press football. So no! The two styles by the managers couldn’t be any more different. This is why I firmly believe Liverpool would have fallen short this season if Klopp was still on charge. After all, Slot played with the exact team Klopp had in his last year, with the added constraint of many of being in their last year on contracts, one year older, etc. BTW, this is by no means to discredit Klopp. He was a fantastic manager and absolutely the best motivator. But the point is to show that a new manager can come in and solidly build on the work of the last manager without spending a dime.
Liverpool did choose Slot because his preferred set up was very similar to JK's and the main difference being a preference for more control of matches therefore the squad he inherited would not need a radical overhaul which heaven forfend might have required FSG to lob some money into LFC.
No, not really. Every time I open msn or Google there will be some bullshit click bait headline leading you to a made up page stating we've got no money and are skint. It's not true. There will be transfer money to spend, and INEOS are in the process of streamlining the football elements spending. Meanwhile, the Glazers continue to steal money via the commercial side of the club. Which I know, but you appear to be oblivious of.
You don’t need Google to tell you about the company’s finances. This is a public company! So it’s all publicly disclosed. Yes, the gravy train drying up which is why we need champions league so badly. Here is a summary from the last print in Feb: Manchester United press release(NYSE:MANU): Q4 Non-GAAP EPS of -3.65p. Revenue of £198.7M (-12.0% Y/Y). Second quarter adjusted EBITDA was £70.5 million, down 22.9% from £91.4 million in 2Q24. Overall cash and cash equivalents (including the effects of exchange rate movements) decreased by £54.0 million in the quarter to 31 December 2024, compared to a decrease of £18.0 million in the prior year quarter. Net cash outflow from operating activities for the quarter was £63.2 million, compared to £46.6 million in the prior year quarter. Net capital expenditure on property, plant and equipment for the quarter was £6.9 million, an increase of £4.1 million over the prior year quarter. Net capital expenditure on intangible assets for the quarter was £49.9 million, an increase of £14.2 million over the prior year quarter. For Fiscal 2025, the company reiterates its prior guidance of total revenues of £650 million to £670 million and now expects adjusted EBITDA guidance to be at the high end of its previously issued range of £145 million to £160 million.
It doesn’t! But Racliffe said so very much in his remarks. Importantly, what makes you think the club has money?
I'm not saying they 'have money'. but they certainly do have turn over and will find money for transfers. That £800 million debt the American's levied on us won't just disappear you know. The only reason that the club is in the state it is is the ****ing Glazer ****s. Not Amorim, not Ratcliffe, the Glazers.
Most businesses have debts, and indeed, most football clubs do as well. From a business debt standpoint, the Glazers did nothing illegal. Even with all the crazy debt, we still spent more than anyone until a few years ago. Thus, it isn't the debt that has been detrimental to the club. It is downright terrible management and a lack of accountability across the club under their leadership. I have always been against the excessive spending in the name of rebuilding the team, which just never worked. It is never a sustainable model. Ratcliffe said as much to this. If you look at Madrid, they have completely transformed their transfer strategy through long-term planning, which has resulted in them acquiring the players they want with only salaries as liability. Nonetheless, we at United are now in a new era, and I believe Ratcliffe understands what needs to be done from a business perspective. He has made unpopular and difficult decisions along the way. Still, he has also set out an excellent path for the future, starting with the infrastructure project, which would have never happened under the Glazers. From that perspective, the club's future is somewhat secure, but not without a few more years of grinding.
What confused me about United under ETH was how he was given huge money and used it to mainly sign players he'd previously worked with... Onana, Dr Ligt, Lisandro, Antony, Mazraoui iirc. And then a few more he'd seen up close and personal in the Eredivisie... Malacia, Zirkzee. It's pretty unforgivable to fail to find a clear system and style when you're using so many players who are known to you.
Interesting formation Palace used yesterday. One that never works, is ******ed or something, and can't be used in the premier league. Well, it worked yesterday and, with the right players, is clearly a fluid formation. Need Wednesday out of the way now. Have to win, obviously, and then move on to next season. Not sure what would happen if we don't win, I'm half certain Amorim would just leave anyway. Basically; **** this lot, I'm off.
Stupid post! You finally found one team that used the formation is as many local games and you’re jumping up as though it somehow vindicates the point. Funny that you said the right players. We do have the players! Importantly, it is one thing having a system, it is another thing ensuring such system is suited to the team. A system is not the end. It is a means to an end! If the end can’t be achieved, the system will need to change. Moreover, Amorim‘s system has worked best when playing top sides. We can see that in results. That does not make it a one size fits all. This is precisely where adaptability comes in. Amorim telling the press that he’d never change the system demonstrated his naivety that effectively played into all league managers’ hands.
