Everybody in Israel and Palestine is a complete stranger ... doesn't mean I can't hope that one day there will be a sustainable peace based on both sides respecting each others right to existence.. and boundaries ...

Solutions do happen - we are no longer at war with Ireland, Scotland or Wales or France or Germany ... the US and Japan are now friendly despite the firmer inflicting arguably the worst atrocity of modern wars on the latter ... more recently, the former Yugoslavian countries are now at peace ...

Yes those solutions require a change of mindset and also agreeing and sticking to International law and arbitration ... but I don't believe that any one group is completely beyond redemption ...

Can't really debate with an entrenched bigot ... so I tend to skim over your 'nobody understands us because we're the first country / group to have ever been targeted by terrorists who don't like us' simpleton's rhetoric and just write what I feel is relevant to the wider issues ... and from a neutral perspective not from any anti-semitic perspective that often gets thrown at anybody condemning IDF / Israeli wholesale slaughter and ethnic cleansing that has obviously gone way beyond the pretext of a defensive action ..

 

No. You avoided it because you know in my shoes you’d feel the same. The expectations on Israel aren’t applied to any other country in similar circumstances. No other country piques the interest of close to as many wet lettuces.

I had some garlic sausage that you can buy in packs like that, which was nice.

If I needed a quick fix and Spam was all that was available, I'd eat it, i just detest what use to be the school version of fritters, made me want to puke.

That stuff you eat is beef, so i'd be alright with that.

 

Treat yourself. The Sainsbury’s I got lunch from when I had meetings near Ebbsfleet had a kosher section despite there being no Jews for miles.

I read an account from a tribe of cannibals from Papua new Guinea once, apparently they reckon the little knuckle parts on the palm of your hand are the tastiest part of a human.

I generally think of two things when people talk about cannibalism, Hannibal Lecter or more to the point, that plane crash where reality dawned and the survivors realised all they had left to eat was the dead bodies of their mates...well something like that anyway.

 

Yeah that was grim, but I guess you do what you have to to survive.

I read a report that Mark Twain wrote (when he used to be a reporter for a San Francisco newspaper) about a merchant ship travelling to SF that caught fire around 200 miles from Hawaii. The men on board had a few of minutes to launch the lifeboat and grab whatever supplies they could before the ship was engulfed.

They worked out that they had enough food and water to last 18 men around a week and they were confident that they could make land, or spot another ship and get rescued. It ended up with them being at sea for 32 days, living on what they could catch. They caught a Turtle and ate that raw, they were making water traps from linen cloth and sucking the moisture out. Towards the end when they ran out of food they were eating their leather boots.

One thing that stuck out in that report was that one of the men got really sick and there was a debate about whether to keep feeding him and giving him water to keep him alive. The rations would go further if he died and they could eat him and potentially all survive for another week. In the report one of the men commented on how he was counting down the days until this bloke would die and then they could eat him. On the last day before they decided to let him die, they spotted land and paddled for shore nearly capsizing the boat in the shorebreak.

They all survived and the bloke who they were going to eat also made a full recovery.

Just open the damn gates Israel and let those people get some food.

 

I hope I would not ... there are plenty of Israelis (and Jews) who don't think like you either ... where do they rank in your vegetable patch?

There are good, sound, reasonable people in every race, creed and culture ... unfortunately there are also the bigoted, narrow minded, arrogant, closed off uber ****s that see themselves and theirs as 'special' ... rather than as just part of the diverse human race ...

Neither Israelis nor other Jews seek special treatment. Just the same expectations as anyone else in their situation would be fine but people are far too ingrained in their Palestine pastime for that now.

There is a small minority of Jewish ‘anti-Zionists’. They rank right at the bottom below the grifters, the people pretending to give a **** about Palestine so they can vent about Jews and the comfortable white people desperate to be part of some sort of oppressed movement.

 

Jordan wants to treat 2,000 injured and sick Gazan children - so far Israel has restricted this to just 33 ... presumably because Hamas will shrink themselves to child size and use the Jordanian hospital treatment for their own ends ...

This situation is beyond belief- you'd have to be a right bigoted **** not to be appalled by this - and no, I would absolutely not be accepting of my government doing anything like this ...
